Matthew.Jensen has one, posted it on the FB forum. I'm not sure if he posted here though.

All major shipping companies have raised rates both in domestic and international shipping very recently. $64 is a might expensive, which is why it's usually better to either do a group buy, or see if you can find what you want from a local dealer.

So, how many lucky SBGers are attending Blade this year? I couldn't make it, living vicariously through friend's pics/FB posts.

I understand LG, since I am from Pakistan and live here, and am willing to get swords imported. But on the off chance they might be valid? They have a lot of stuff and people seem to be genuinely interested. But still, even I don't trust it if no ones heard of it! I did paint my response with a broad stroke: let me clarify some... I don't think all Pakistani made knives/swords are bad (some are actually very, very nice), and are not overly expensive considering the work that goes into them. But, the potential to get ripped off by unscrupulous companies/middle men is too much of a gamble for me. Like you mentioned, it's kind of hard to trust a company if no one's ever done business with them before.

I've never done business with this company before, but Pakistani Damascus blades have a very poor track record, and many people (including myself) avoid them at all costs because of poor quality (even if they look nice in a picture), and deceptive marketing practices. The Damascus blanks have been reported to be made using dubious forging methods and also using inferior metals NOT as advertised. The companies often state they're the manufacturer, but in reality, are just middle men buying from multiple sources. Some companies even go so far as to pretend they're based in the US, and suck people in to buying their products, only finding out later that they were ordered from Pakistan and take weeks to deliver. Can you find a good Pakistani made Damascus blade? Sure! But how hard will it be to find the good ones from the poorly made ones? That's the hard part.

Thanks for the review. Nice to see some display swords get reviewed from time to time, especially with the fantasy types that you cant find functional. Sting is a cool little sword. There are quite a few differences in detail compared to the standard version but one thing that has always turned me off with the museum line is the extra price for the carbon steel. When in fact they are still only display pieces still with the rattail glue assembly. I definitely would recommend not using this sword for any cutting and leave it on that book shelf to display and take it out for some handling every now and then when you want to. Awesome you were able to find one at a good price and could check that box on your collectors list! I don't have a MC Sting, but do have a MC Glamdring, although I have not disassembled it. From what I've read, the MC Sting, MC Anduril, and MC Glamdring all had full tangs - the only ones that didn't were the Samwise sword, which was/is advertised as having a rat tail tang. I could be wrong, but you could always do a google search for "museum collection sting full tang" and see what results you get. Btw, here's the link nddave alluded to above for the MC Glamdring though, where you can see the sword disassembled sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/31580And here's a link to a review of my MC Glamdring sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/34728

Thanks for the kind words. It's imperative for new owners/keepers to understand how much work (and love) it takes to properly take care of Flyers or anything similar. My wife didn't do it on a whim: she's always wanted to be a vet, but the nearest veterinary school is approximately 7 hrs away one way, preventing her from getting a degree in it. She also did tons of prior research on the squirrels (habitat, behavior, special requirements, etc) about a year in advance of speaking to the lady we got Penny from (about a 9 hr drive up to Buna, TX - yikes!), and then "interviewed" with her for a couple hours before she allowed my wife to take her.
When my daughter mentioned to her friends that we had Flyers, they kept on saying "you mean Sugar Gliders", so my wife decided to take Penny and the boys over to the elementary school and do a short presentation to my daughter's 1st grade class a few years ago.

Would you mind showing us a photo ? They sound pretty cool ! Here they are Penny (Penelope) Penny (being her super tame self) Penny "Flying" inside our house Otis (Odysseus) when he was all buff Fat Otis (Penny was pregnant) Penny and her "brood" Archie (Archibald), Hector, and Cassie (Cassiopeia) Archie and Hector (they each have their separate box btw) - since there are no females around, they behave very well towards each other (no fighting, etc). One thing before trying to raise squirrels - you MUST know what you're doing, since regular squirrel (and/or bird) feed isn't enough - they also need lots of protein. And keeping them locked up all the time isn't good for them either... they must have space to play/fly, or else they can revert back to their wild selves. So, if my wife were to post on here, she'd say not to do it unless you've done TONS of research, and were able to devote lots of love and attention to them.

My wife currently has 2 Southern Flying Squirrels (nocturnal and totally legal to own in the state of Texas). She used to have 5, including the parents and a sister to Archie and Hector (named after classical figures in literature). Unfortunately, Penny (Penelope, the matriarch, also the most incredibly tame squirrel ever) passed away, as did Otis (short for Oddyseus, Penny's mate), and Cassie (Casiopeia), Archie and Hector's sister. We got them from an older lady who used to rehab all manners of small animals, but has since passed away. I don't have any pics of them on my phone, but will try to post at least a couple of pics when I get a chance. Fox squirrels on the other hand are not easy to tame, and will do whatever they want.
