DamascusWorld
Seems like I am opening a lot of new threads, first the Desiccant one, then this and even the Pommel throwing experiment is pending. ANYWAYS.... Saw this while randomly going through the google images for ideas on a custom project. They are based in Sialkot Pakistan but I have NEVER heard about them. Think they are legit? Their stuff looks exquisite at least!Pretty easy on the eyes really, go and check, let me know!

I've never done business with this company before, but Pakistani Damascus blades have a very poor track record, and many people (including myself) avoid them at all costs because of poor quality (even if they look nice in a picture), and deceptive marketing practices. The Damascus blanks have been reported to be made using dubious forging methods and also using inferior metals NOT as advertised. The companies often state they're the manufacturer, but in reality, are just middle men buying from multiple sources. Some companies even go so far as to pretend they're based in the US, and suck people in to buying their products, only finding out later that they were ordered from Pakistan and take weeks to deliver. Can you find a good Pakistani made Damascus blade? Sure! But how hard will it be to find the good ones from the poorly made ones? That's the hard part.

I understand LG, since I am from Pakistan and live here, and am willing to get swords imported. But on the off chance they might be valid? They have a lot of stuff and people seem to be genuinely interested. But still, even I don't trust it if no ones heard of it!

I don't think all Pakistani made knives/swords are bad (some are actually very, very nice), and are not overly expensive considering the work that goes into them. But, the potential to get ripped off by unscrupulous companies/middle men is too much of a gamble for me. Like you mentioned, it's kind of hard to trust a company if no one's ever done business with them before.

I myself live in a third world country (Philippines) and we have a reputation for both stellar blades (kris cutlery, tfw, some legacy arms/gen 2 stuff, and a few other relatively unknown forges) and bad blades (old valiant armoury/de vera). I've bought from all of these and already know which ones are value for money and which ones are utter crap.

I have tried almost every place in almost all industries. This also includes swords and I have mentioned before that traditional bladesmiths produce Tulwars that are of the most excellent quality. If it was Tulwars I was looking for, I wouldn't be on this forum even. They REFUSE to make anything else on permanent basis, instead making replicas only when challenged and will not let you keep it, but keep it away. I just asked because it is not in the listings of Sialkot or anywhere in Pakistan for that matter. It's a list of 10 years and all those 10 year listing do not have them listed. It is possible they are off charts to throw off tax. Common here. I asked since they are widely open to international market(supposedly). E.g, I know of Muhammad Irfan of TopBoxer in Sialkot, the guy produces the BEST gloves etc in the world and does it all custom. He would make anything leather or such for you. He even makes custom shoes!
