Picked up a S&D Ronin Katana Elite that had a bent tsuba. Ordered an antique one from Japan and put it on today. Had to do a little file work but not much.

Nothing beats a beautiful mokko. The ornaments are really nice and I love the patina.
Hopefully it didn't cost more than a sword, yes?

You might be shocked how inexpensively you can pick up an antique tsuba for. I am actually thinking he needs to consider going full Monte, and get an antique fuchi, kashira and menuki to add to his sword.

Such a small thing, but it makes all the difference, doesn't it?

Sure it does!
And I am kind of shocked, really. I was expecting it being well (and I mean well) above $100 tag. This easily blows away a lot of modern cast production pieces, still being well priced.
Was that an online store, an auction, or?

That is wonderful. Excellent choice. And I like that katana...
Only thing I think needs to be done now is do something with that brass thingie below the habaki (sorry, not my area of expertise). It looks too modern and machined on that old and gritty tsuba... just some patina or distressing could do the trick.

So I guess this is a Ronin "super elite" now. Nice choice.
