So, I got this katana a while back labeled as being laminated... do you all see any lamination lines, 'cause I certainly don't. It does have a tight "hada" for a Chinese katana, but if there are any lamination lines, I fail to see them. Sorry about the pic quality, my camera didn't want to cooperate. This one's from Zhejiang Zhengs Sword (Zheng Shi sword) btw.

That's why I said, " Now watch how it's NOT done ". These idiots are a joke only I'm not laughing. This is why at a time Martial Arts Masters didn't want it to leave Japan. They probably knew this kind of S--- would happen to it. Sorry if my post came off as being negative - not my intention... buy yeah, XMA and other "sports" like them will be the downfall of traditional martial arts (I know, I know, I'm being hyperbolic in my assemsment )

ugh... you just had to show a crappy XMA vid
I hate what XMA has done to legitimate martial arts - turned them into laughable sports instead of their original intended purpose. I've studied JMA/JSA for many, many years, and appreciate the first two vids, but just can't stomach XMA. To make it even worse, Hollywood has caught the XMA bug for the past few years, having XMA type displays in many recent movies.

The MRL rep I spoke to stated that they were also surprised and caught off guard by Windlass Inc.'s decision to stop wholesale pricing - as to why MRL won't lower prices themselves, we can speculate about it, but won't now the real answer yet (or maybe ever). I'm thinking that since Windlass needs their weapons to sell for a higher price in order to raise their profit margin (at least for the short term), they're probably directing their only major suppliers, Atlanta Cutlery/MRL/Reliks to sell at settled prices, while other retailers will raise prices accordingly.

I would also suggest the Shinto... while the others you mentioned are OK, the Shinto is so much more than that. Great handling and cutting capabilities

Another winner if I ever saw one - great going Josh! I really need to send you mine when I get the chance, but since I currently have only one iaito, I would need to ask my sensei for permission to use my nihonto during Iaido class (he doesn't allow any non-Japanese iaito/shinken in his dojo).

The gate slowly creaked open as the iron hinges broke free from the rust that had accumulated from misuse. As the door swung open, the yellow cloaked figure took in everything that was transpiring before him...
A small group of warriors came from the walled fortress, meeting the men outside. The large traveller all of a sudden rushed through the throng of men and punched the "leader" of the small group of rag-tag soldiers, breaking the man's nose with a crunch.

I'll probably be getting the 18 for yardwork at some point. And yes, the CRKT's do look interresting, seeing as they're Ken Onion designs. On a similar note, PM me before buying any of them - I might be able to give you a good deal.

I have the Kershaw Camp 10, and its a great all around "knife". The 18 looks impressive, but haven't used one. However, an uncle of mine has the 14, and really likes it.

Prices have gone up slightly for all vendors - I ordered a few DSA's recently and have them in stock as well... VERY nice in hand compared to previous models. DSA has definitely raised the bar compared to their previous offerings.

Now she'll be disappointed that it isn't a Leek. LOL! I think she'll like the Buck... if not, I'll figure out a way to color the scales pink and that'll assure that she loves it.

I got one (also a Buck Bantam) for my daughter a few weeks ago - still haven't given it to her since I don't think she's ready for a real knife. A few months from now though and she'll get to use it. Oh, and while I was looking though some catalogs of mine, my daughter squealed when she saw a Kershaw Leek with all the funky coloring on them, saying "Leek! Leek! Leek!" I think she's going to like her Buck when she gets it seing how excited she got looking through the catalog

To clarify, While I avoid argument as nonproductive, I do enjoy discussion. Discussion becomes argument when it is repetitive or abusive. Also, I will occasionally take someone to task for their enlightenment and my personal pleasure. I politely disagree. As a hs English teacher (14th year), I teach my students that everything is an argument, but not every argument is worth their or my time. My AP students in particular need to understand how to write coherent essays which has a strong argument they have to prove through well thought out examples and through the use of counterarguments for any concessions made in their essays. I'm also my school's debate coach (8th year), where I teach my debaters about how to make strong cases by making a claim, using strong data to back up their claim(s), and having a warrant (or warrants) that interprets the data and shows how the data supports the claim. Now, are all arguments good? Hell no. But, I'd say that healthy debate will bring more knowledge to the table instead of just letting the other person(s) win without respectful disagreement on the topic. What I've seen of late on the FB page is people bashing each other based mostly on anger and preconceived notions. Those are not good debates/argumentation - rather, they're just a pi$$ng contest. My argument is this: if you don't like a person or a thread either here or on the FB page, just leave it be. If you can't, then try to be as polite as you can when debating without resorting to attacking another person(s), hijacking the thread, or deflecting blame on someone/something else. I'm not picking sides (not worth it IMHO because like I mentioned above, not all arguments are inherently good), and I'll just leave it at that.
