Thinking of getting the Kershaw Camp 18, which is a massive machete/knife. 24" overall in length, with a 18" blade that is supposed be made out of a Chinese steel that is equivalent to 1065 carbon steel? Does anyone own one of these, or have used one that could give any further helpful info on them?

I have the Kershaw Camp 10, and its a great all around "knife". The 18 looks impressive, but haven't used one. However, an uncle of mine has the 14, and really likes it.

I too have the Kershaw Camp 14, and like it a lot. Friend of mine just got the Camp 18, and says it cuts better than some of his swords, and chops better than his ax. I think I'm going to have to get the 18. The 10 just seems too small for my liking. Also been looking at the CRKT Chanceinhell and Halfachance....they get great reviews also.

I'll probably be getting the 18 for yardwork at some point. And yes, the CRKT's do look interresting, seeing as they're Ken Onion designs. On a similar note, PM me before buying any of them - I might be able to give you a good deal.

Finally got my hands on one, that a friend bought recently. All I can say is.....WOW! Found it for $32 (not including shipping) on smokeymountainknifeworks. I might have to order 2, since having one in each hand, is far better than having just one. :)

Can't beat it for the price...and if you break it you just git a new one.
