Hey All, I just finished tweaking the SBG contest giveaway first prize and she's ready to go to her new home. This is a Feilong Swords, Iwa katana with a few customizations made by me. For those who aren't familiar with this sword, in my opinion, it's one of the finest sub $500 DH cutting katana available right now. It's a shobu style, medium to heavy cutter capable of taking on tatami mats and fresh bamboo as well as all the usual targets like plastic bottles, pool noodles, rolled newspaper and so on. It has been very popular for years in Europe, sold by Samurai Sword Shop and is now available here in the States. It's got all the power of a much bigger sword but is still agile enough for a smaller person to wield one-handed. For more information, including stats and cutting videos, see my Iwa katana website page. What I did:- Refined tsuka core
- Applied new samegawa panels, lacquered black
- New tsukamaki in Black Japanese silk ito
- Lacquered ito for durability and heavy use
- Added new silver Usagi menuki (depicting a rabbit/moon theme)
- Added new iron "Musashi" tsuba with dark rust patina
- Two new Delrin mekugi
Be sure to enter for your chance to win this awesome sword! Tsuki no Usagi katana: With new sageo Good luck to everyone -Josh

As in refined the core , did you make it skinnier?

As in refined the core , did you make it skinnier? I did. I made it a bit thinner and adjusted the profile accordingly They already have a nice shape but it's hard for me to leave anything alone when I start on a project, lol I still might add a couple more touches... -Josh

I plan to enter this contest, but as I'm the kind of guy that if I didn't have bad luck, I would have no luck at all, It's just wishful thinking. Seriously, though. It looks really good.

I've always had a rule against posting pics and personal information about myself online, but might have to make an exception in this case. It's a beauty.

I just added the final touch to the 1st prize in the SBG/ Feilong Swords contest giveaway. I replaced the stock black sageo with an imported Japanese kakucho weave sageo in ivory. I felt it would pop against the all black backdrop of the sword. I hope the winner will like it -Josh
