Welcome to the forum 101hyper. As for identifying your sword, I’m afraid that you are going to do better at giving us information. The one photo provided is of poor quality and limited. Kindly give the dimensions and better photos showing, but not necessary limited to showing any and all stampings, the sword overall, some detailed close up would be helpful, and most of all not back backlit. From what little I can tell from the photo provided, it’s a reproduction of not the best quality. With more information that could change.

To apply for a Manufacturers and Vendors status contact a Global Moderator. I suggest Curtis_Louis or Sir Thorfinn via PM. The easiest way to find them is to click “Members” in the black bar across the upper part of screen. Then in the search, type the name you are looking for + space bar (sometime needed). Then click on “Name” or “Username” in the new screen and click “Send Message” button. You should be able to take it from there.

I have used #000 steel wool and WD-40 for decades to remove active red rust. First with my firearms collection and now swords. But I suspect any light oil will do. This will not damage the surface. It will not remove pitting nor black rust, so don't expect a like new blade, but will be an improvement over what I saw in the photo. I suggest a preservative oil afterwards to keep rust away.

I miss my firearms collection. Fortunately, swords fill the void to some degree.

You have been making impressive videos demonstrating your Supreme Cutter Classic. How many times have you resharpened that sword, even a minor touch up?

Could you give the dimensions? Especially the OAL?

That has its merits, and I’m for the idea. Who will be the first to send me a sword? Come on, don’t be shy.

I had been putting 25° on all blades, except in a few special cases. Mostly out of laziness so as not to have to remember what blade has what. Recently I’ve been changing to 22½°. I know from theory that is cutting better. But in practice I see no difference in efficiency nor durability, although I probably would if measured and kept a record. So, I’m slowly changing the angle when a piece needs sharpening. I did decrease the angle from 20° to 17½° on one machete and it didn’t seem as durable, but will test further. So, it appears at present 20-22½° is going to be best for me.
As for today, I finally got around to dressing down the edge on my Windlass XIV. I notice flash about a month ago and brought the sword to office to remind me. I almost did it last weekend but something came up. I started again yesterday, but in the month, more or less, that it sat in the office the filler material they put in the guard to support the blade let go, it rattled. That took precedence. Today I sharpened. I do not know the grind angle, whatever MRL used. It looked like I may have touched up the edge at some point as the grind marks are not as obvious as I remember MRL’s or KoA’s. On the final inspection before commencing, I discovered a wire edge on both edges. Ooppps, it must have been an oversight on my part but not only was it cutting backyard targets and surprisingly slicing newspaper, so that went unnoticed. Only recently I noticed the flash in the sunlight. Wishing to remove the wire edge only I broke out the leather strop, and applied the red rouge on the rough side but the wire edge remained. I then went to 1000 grit paper, I had intended 1500 grit, and a small padded wood block and carefully worked the edges with WD-40 until smooth. It sliced newspaper nicely before, now like a razor. The end result was faster than using my WS as planned.
I’ll admit the edge in the video, which I bookmarked, and am sure the edge you put on your Albion, are superior, competition grade if you will, but are better than I need on a back yard sword or a working machete or kukri. The latter two being subject to abuses such as striking a rock. But all of which are maintained at newspaper cutting sharp. I’ll be the first to admit technically mine could be sharper, but how sharp do I need to worry about or how to get there? For my purposes what I have work fine. I’m sure some of our readers will benefit from what you did. And that is nice to know information.
FWIW I’m a convex fan, one reason I don’t seek out flat polishing mediums although I have some.

Glad that you decided to check the ID, it saved you a lot of grief. You should be able to pick up a saya from Amazon cheap enough. It won’t be the best but should suffice for practice until something better comes along. Who knows? Maybe you'll like it. You are handy with yours hands.

I know, you didn’t ask but I’ll give a freebie. When drawing rotate your body at the waist counter clockwise. It will aid in moving the saya rearwards. And may be sufficient enough to not warrant cutting your saya. For me, I use to continue the draw converting it into a one-hand cut all in one motion before adding the left hand.

Thanks for your reply! There's no issue with blade rattle. The sword is Japanese-made, high quality, and, as I said, the issue is that the blade is too long to draw comfortably and be sure the tip clears the koiguchi. Shortening the top of the saya by an inch achieves the same effect as shortening the blade by an inch. I'm trying to find out if there's a reason not to do this.
Thanks!
I can think of no reason not to shorten. Be sure to go by ID and not OD. For me personally I’d rather not, and look for an after-market scabbard replacement and alter that. After all the replacement wouldn’t necessarily be its permanent home. Have you considered a pair of arm stretchers? They would solve everything.

I have no first-hand knowledge of such. But a reminder to measure the ID your saya and not to work with the OD. And also, to leave some room for expansion/contraction. I just checked my iaito and for the first time in months I needed thumb pressure to break it free. We are now in our rainy season. The saya OD is about 1¼" longer than the blade.
Larason commented while I was writing and I restricted it to the OP’s question. That said some personal thoughts. And that is the blade is possibly too long for you. I’d think twice about shortening the saya. I have corrected a rattle due to the blade slapping the side of scabbard by inserting horse hair. A trick I was told used in the past by the Japanese, but unconfirmed. I used the horse hair on a blade shorter than a iaito, and it worked. I tied a small bundle in two knots and inserted. One knot did not hold the bundle fast and the hairs began coming out individually. On my iaito and katanas I don’t consider it worth the trouble. The rattle doesn’t bother me. As the wood changes size due to the humidity causes concern. So what is an exact fit? What fits today may not in six months when rainy season is over and vise versa.

Ya, as someone said BS, and that sums it up. Regardless of who wishes to, or not, be associated with whomever I’m still going to receive my pension. Ya, I get paid for doing nothing. I will enjoy a black beer with super. I started to say and while watching “Caso Cerrado” on TV but today is a holiday, Independence Day, and that program may be pre-empted. I’ll still watch an old movie on YouTube, probably a Sherlock Homes jobby, or one similar. Might even finish the series involving the Pink Panther. Afterwards, just before turning the lights out I’ll lay in bed reading a few pages, again, in “Bloody Blades of the British Empire”. It affects me not, especially to the point of deleting my SBG account.

I’ve said my piece. Easton owes me nothing, much less justification for his actions. If he chooses to associate with X so be it, if not to so be it. That is his choice, not mine.

.............. Sort of like the show “The Voice”, I think it is, where a bunch of women set around gossiping and voicing their opinions about some celebrity. Just my 2¢. Well, now we know what you're watching, when you should be busy with swords. :D (rofl) Believe me, I don’t watch “The Voice” (vomit). In fact, we don’t get it in my country. I saw some cuttings from that show posted on some other show, since forgotten.

I see Easton trying to disassociate himself from Shad for personal reasons and not to cancel Shad Brooks as the title states. Easton has that right and it’s not for me to judge, nor something I should concern myself with. People are making a mountain out of a mole hill, if you will. Although that seems the norm these days, that is passing judgement on people and trying to, to some extent, manipulate. Sort of like the show “The Voice”, I think it is, where a bunch of women set around gossiping and voicing their opinions about some celebrity. Just my 2¢.
