For me in the wet topics, I would have a perpetual maintenance issue. I might as well move my bed there as well.

Dimensions are needed. In the meantime, a parrying dagger, perhaps a small sword. Most likely a dagger. The ring would go on the side of hand’s back. Too bad it’s chipped.

P.S., Back in 2007 I bought a katana from a smith in Kai Feng (Millennium City Park, China), and this one ticks a few of the boxes (afaik), like a really tight ito, but has a loose seppa / habaki, and falls out of the saya very easily. That is correctable. Shimming is the word. As for the saya fit, shimming will work of course. But FYI if you live in an area where there is a definite climate change, such as wet and dry seasons, you may experience some difficulty with the saya changing size. One approach is to grasp the sword by the tsuka with the right hand adjacent to the tsuka. Then put the thumb over the tsuba with the thumb pad resting on the saya, supporting it. This is a recognized method of carry.

Also, another possible fix is to restart your computer. RESTART and not turn off if your are using Windows. If that doesn't work, go through your settings again after restarting.

I’m truly sorry to hear of your condition. As for your email issue from this end I failed to find it in my power to do anything. Perhaps a Global Moderator, with more power, can be of aid. I do have this suggestion, use your email to block. I hope that helps. We are looking into the issue.

Super glue (CA) will do it. But if you go that route use one with very low viscosity CA glue. I would strongly suggest using Loctite 242 in a 6 ml tube. If you can’t find it locally Amazon has it. The reason I suggest the 242 is the tube has a nozzle of correct size, has extremely low viscosity, sets up in about 20 minutes, and most of all easy clean up. Regardless CA or 242, you will get some on the surface. The 242 is blue in colour making it visible when wet, a paper towel will easily and quickly clean the excess amount. Do not try to fix both parts at the same time. Put a few drops between the handle and guard and align. About ½ hour later put a few drops between the handle and pommel, align and allow to dry. It might be best to set the sword in a vertical position while drying. There are several ways to reduce the photo size. The easiest I’ve found is using MS Paint program if you are using Windows. It is part of the package, a freebee if you will. Come to think of it, an easier way is to set your camera to email mode, if you have the option.

Is the sword peened or threaded?

I interpret sharpening stones in several ways. There are dedicated stones sold expressly for sharpening and I’ve seen rocks/stones that natives use for sharpening. I’ve also seen river stone and rocks that were part of a house’s construction used. As for me, I tried once with a rock (marble?) on my machete as an experiment. It worked. No video, but two photos of the end result below, and one includes the rock. Just read about carrying a stone in the field. Not to pass judgement on that, but what about finding a stone of opportunity, and then pitching it after the job is complete as I did?

Just scrutinized my ss hilted sword. The hilt is a degree or two shinier than the carbon steel blade. I believe this is largely due to a better polish. The metals have a different feel. Again, this could be a result to the polish. There are polishing marks running parallel with the blade and none on the hilt. However, differences to some extent could be an aging result. I have no regrets with the ss hilt and as I said it’s one of my favourites.

I can’t say much in the way of a technical approach such as machining, brittleness, nor durability. I have one sword that I suspect is with a ss hilt, though that was not mentioned in the ad. So far as blades made of ss, with the exception of two types that are expensive it is the flexing that ss objects to. As far as hilt use the only one I have is by Weapons Edge and I only suspect it to be ss. I cannot vouch for it withstanding stresses of combat as that sword is a sharpy so I don’t spar with it. I don’t really object to the appearance, it’s shinier and smoother than the blade and I’ve had no rust issues here in the rainy tropics with it. In fact, it is one of my favourite swords. I would object to the ss being on, say a medieval sword as well as some others, from an aesthetics standpoint judging from the Weapons Edge sword. Perhaps it is possible to use a type of ss and polishing that doesn’t set it far apart from the blade.

I think this will be beneficial to many of our UK members so it’s stickered it. Thanks.

It is the thought pattern, strategy if you will, that I’m most interested in. The technique is secondary to me, although not to be overlooked. I believe this is why I’ve been successful stick fighting in the streets. I’ve so far out thought my adversaries.

I tried #0000 once when #000 wasn't available and got the same result, only I had to work longer.
