Awesome! Germanic? Celtic? Early, late migration? Not familiar with this sword.

Nice! Is it tapered toward the end? Whats the lbs? Hi, According to his web site yes it is. "My shields are patterned after the Gokstad finds. The wooden planks are 1/2 inch poplar, sanded and stained to a taper around the edges." Weight on my scale said 11lbs. 36" diameter.

How about sharing the information regarding the shield. Sure no problem. This is off his ESTY web site: "This shield is made with the Viking re-enactor who prefers plank construction like the originals in mind. These shields are custom made on order and can be ordered in even sizes from 30 through 36 inch diameter. My shields are patterned after the Gokstad finds. The wooden planks are 1/2 inch poplar, sanded and stained to a taper around the edges. A shaped wooden handle on the rear spans the entire back of the shield. This acted as the spine of the shield. The steel boss is hand hammered with a dish of 6 inches in diameter and approximately 3 inches deep. The boss is attached to the shield using copper rivets. The rim is stitched to the shield with sinew. The rim material is rawhide. This type of rim is safer than a metal rim and actually more authentic to circa 905 AD. This is the most authentically made shield available in my shop. This shield is not painted. We will be happy to add a paint scheme for an extra charge." My shield is 36" diameter.

Hi all. Was not sure where to post this so I just put this in the general discussion area for now. If it needs to be moved please let a moderator know and let me know when it needs to be posted for next time. But any way I just purchased this shield from Shields by Eric Blaton. I found him on Esty. I wanted a planked shield. He fit the bill. I did the paint job (milk paint) and the swirl design. Pretty cool I think. Hope you guys enjoy.

One thing that always concerns me- Are all the fittings aligned with the blade? I took a couple Pic with the blade in the scabbard and out a bit. Looks OK. What you think? Attachments:

Measure it. I seriously doubt it has 33 long blade and 36,75 overall. When you substract the lengths needed for pommel and guard you are left with no more length for grip. HI finally got around to measuring the Hjalmarr, You were right. 30.5 in. Attachments:

HI. I have the Medieval Classic and the Viking Battle Cry and I like them a lot. I don't think you will be disappointed. They are my goto beaters.

OH man I love the English Long sword too! Ebay has one that is being sold from Poland. I checked a whole bunch of other websites as I am sure you did but none of them have any in stock.

I too purchased a Valiant Arms blade from KOA but instead of your sword I got the Monarch since it was blue and I'm a sucker for the color. However prior to purchase I was eyeing your piece for a long time before i finally pulled the trigger on the Monarch, I love how your Hjalmarr looks and i think the designs on the scabbard are amazing (wish KOA had it in stock in blue), hope your happy with it, looks lovely! Hey man how are you. Yeah I am very happy! I love Viking era swords. These two fit the bill. The scabbards are awesome for the price point I think. These are my first VA swords and I like them. That Marseille is awesome and have been eyeing it big time but my wallet is blowing dust... LOL.

How's the sword's handling and sharpness? I may be interested in this model or the Norseman... Hey hows it going! The sharpness is good. I think if you were to purchase them, you would be satisfied. Make no mistake it will cut and do damage. I am not a HEMA practitioner so I wouldn't know really how the sword is really supposed to handle from that era, but I do have a couple of other Viking era swords that I compared them to. The H/T Viking and an Irish Viking that I gave to my Son, and both the VA Norseman and Hjalmarr are blade heavy for sure. I did not plan on cutting bottles with them. They are my nicest pieces. I am just enjoying them for now and want to mount them on the wall with a shield. Just bought a Viking era round shield, and I am waiting for milk paint to come in later today via UPS so I can paint the shield and then was planning on posting some serious pics of the Norseman and Hjalmarr.

This is what i see being sold. I would not buy these especially at the price they command, nor would I pay to get them rewrapped. I don't get it. These wraps do not look professional. They look like they slapped these on. Attachments:

So i just received the DSA 5 lobe viking ear sword. I think its awesome. I am interested in the Oslo and the 11th century swords, but the handle wraps I see at vendor sites are just not appealing. The thing that gets me though, is that they have videos that show a nice tight looking handle wrap. Very sharp look. I added pics. Whats up with that? Anybody own these swords with the these nice handles? Attachments:
