not sure if i lucked out or what but the scabbard actually fits quite well and the sword does not fall out like they normally do, but it is still pretty bad cause everytime i pull the sword out it has a layer of dust or something from inside the scabbard that just is not very appealing and i have to clean it off and reapply oil

Probably an after effect of using the harder leather, my Type XIV and Homildon Hill swords get similar dust too. Wont hurt the blade so no worries for you there. I could see how with oiled blades it could be more annoying. I use polish rather oil and when I get the dusties I just wipe it off as the blades are dry and its no problem. Perhaps your over oiling as in leaving too much on, if the dust stuff is really sticking and gunking the blade.

Is this "deal of the day" good? I'd like to add a great sword to my collection and love my Windlass Medieval Falchion.

As far as quality comparisons to the falchion yes, the Roven is one of the top Windlass swords so you'll be impressed. For the price (especially at the discount) you wont find another sword of its type on the market under the $250 range. H/T Great Sword of War, Hanwei Mercenary and the Hanwei Bastard are probably the only other comparable swords in size and handling.

$143 total sharpened and shipped to my door with the SBG discount. I went ahead and placed my order. After picking up an Albion a few weeks back, I thought I'd only be into high end swords but this seems a like a lot of bang for the buck. Hope it pans out!

is this sword really that good? I got this sword previously on deal of the day. Yes, it is that good. It's also my longest blade in my collection at 38" blade length. It handles nicely. At the closeout price is probably the best sword deal anywhere right now.
