The Valiant Armoury Hjalmarr Viking Sword "Special Edition Collection" Just got a chance to post some pics. I purchased two VA Viking swords from KOA, but only posting the Hjalmarr Sword for now. I like the sword. Its a nice piece. I think VA did a good job for a mid level configuration. Stats form VA: This Viking Sword has an Overall Length of 36 3/4 inches The Sword Blade Length is 33 inches - but the model I have measures 30.5 inches Sword Handle Length: 3 3/4" Sword Blade Material: Hand Forged 1060 High Carbon Spring Steel Sword Blade Width at Guard: 2 3/8" Sword Weight 2 lbs. 15oz. Sword Center of Gravity 5 3/4 "

Thanks for posting this. I've been really wanting the Hjalmarr but I would want one with Norseman scabbard. Might have send an order like that to Sonny when I scrape up the funds.

Overall and blade length don't fit... The sword looks really nice...

Why does the blade not fit? Because of the length?

Measure it. I seriously doubt it has 33 long blade and 36,75 overall. When you substract the lengths needed for pommel and guard you are left with no more length for grip. :)

Beautiful sword. Love the guard and pommel design. Thanks man I do to. I will take some more detailed pics as I am curious of what some of the more experienced people think.

One thing that always concerns me- Are all the fittings aligned with the blade?

How's the sword's handling and sharpness? I may be interested in this model or the Norseman...

I too purchased a Valiant Arms blade from KOA but instead of your sword I got the Monarch since it was blue and I'm a sucker for the color. However prior to purchase I was eyeing your piece for a long time before i finally pulled the trigger on the Monarch, I love how your Hjalmarr looks and i think the designs on the scabbard are amazing (wish KOA had it in stock in blue), hope your happy with it, looks lovely!

Make no mistake it will cut and do damage. I am not a HEMA practitioner so I wouldn't know really how the sword is really supposed to handle from that era, but I do have a couple of other Viking era swords that I compared them to. The H/T Viking and an Irish Viking that I gave to my Son, and both the VA Norseman and Hjalmarr are blade heavy for sure. I did not plan on cutting bottles with them. They are my nicest pieces. I am just enjoying them for now and want to mount them on the wall with a shield. Just bought a Viking era round shield, and I am waiting for milk paint to come in later today via UPS so I can paint the shield and then was planning on posting some serious pics of the Norseman and Hjalmarr.

Hey man how are you. Yeah I am very happy! I love Viking era swords. These two fit the bill. The scabbards are awesome for the price point I think. These are my first VA swords and I like them. That Marseille is awesome and have been eyeing it big time but my wallet is blowing dust... LOL.

That is a great looking sword, and very nice leatherworking on the scabbard. VA scabbards usually look very well done and this one is no exception. You must be very happy with it!
