Hi all. Was not sure where to post this so I just put this in the general discussion area for now. If it needs to be moved please let a moderator know and let me know when it needs to be posted for next time. But any way I just purchased this shield from Shields by Eric Blaton. I found him on Esty. I wanted a planked shield. He fit the bill. I did the paint job (milk paint) and the swirl design. Pretty cool I think. Hope you guys enjoy.

How about sharing the information regarding the shield. Sure no problem. This is off his ESTY web site: "This shield is made with the Viking re-enactor who prefers plank construction like the originals in mind. These shields are custom made on order and can be ordered in even sizes from 30 through 36 inch diameter. My shields are patterned after the Gokstad finds. The wooden planks are 1/2 inch poplar, sanded and stained to a taper around the edges. A shaped wooden handle on the rear spans the entire back of the shield. This acted as the spine of the shield. The steel boss is hand hammered with a dish of 6 inches in diameter and approximately 3 inches deep. The boss is attached to the shield using copper rivets. The rim is stitched to the shield with sinew. The rim material is rawhide. This type of rim is safer than a metal rim and actually more authentic to circa 905 AD. This is the most authentically made shield available in my shop. This shield is not painted. We will be happy to add a paint scheme for an extra charge." My shield is 36" diameter.

Nice shield! You should get a pretty good workout carrying it around as you learn to use it.
