There is this channel on You Tube that a person named Matt Hall runs. Its called everything Medieval. I started watching some of his vids and I got to say they are great. He has a few Albions, (Reeve, Knight, Norman) an axe, does some interesting testing and reviews. I am not sure if he is on these forums or not but I wanted to give you fine people the heads up to check this channel out. www.youtube.com/channel/UCeE7MU1YN6GyExjxRQu_cMQMatt is really talented to. He makes scabbards, a viking chest, medieval shoes, etc. I find him to be incredibly talented. He just started and only has few hundred subscribes but he is pretty good. Check him out! Take care all!

My suggestion to you is try the Albion squire line if you see something you like. I have two and I like them a lot. I am however concerned about the resale value of the more expensive line. I saw a Huskarl sell on ebay recently for 950 plus dollars. Its a $1500 plus sword.... That was a bit of a loss....
There are three of their swords that I hope to own one day. The Jarl, the The Gaddhjalt, and the Reeve, but they are $$$. I am alway on the look out for used ones.
I do have a couple valiant armory swords and they are great. Check those out maybe.
In any case good luck with your decision. .

The look of anything Merovingian/Migration, Carolingian/Frankish/Norse, Norman, type X/Xa swords. To me these swords can be elaborate or simple looking. They have the blacksmiths heart and soul in to some of these designs. Even the modern blacksmiths who recreate these swords are limitless to the imagination of their creations and recreations. The ancient/antique swords are just awe inspiring to me. Then when modern day blacksmiths take up the challenge to recreate these historical pieces man it just blows me away. If I could only afford all of them....

I wanted to pull the trigger on this sword to but I am not 100% sure Indian made EN45 products are worth that much. Resale might be tough to the experienced. I need to see some reviews and actual use of this particular series first.....

Right!!! That is one possibility I never thought of! Smart! Replacing the hilt but keeping the (expensive) blade.

I am sure that as the steel improved, the warriors of that time obviously went for the better/improved weapon. Makes sense. I still wonder what the people of that time did with the migration swords...
AndiTheBarvarian Thank you so much for taking time to read my posts and answer my questions...

Nothing to do with Crucible steel but wanted to share and learn more from the experts and enthusiasts...
So i learned something new. Viking Era swords were also called Carolingian swords. When I googled Carolingian swords, lot of pics of 8th-9th century type swords popped up... Interesting. Lots to learn... Its a big field of weapons history.
I also learned The Merovingian swords seem to be the migrations swords... Must have been a interesting time when migration swords merged/crossed over to Viking era swords. You think that some of the migrations swords had passed down from families to lets say Normans???

The migration period swords were bloomery steel, that is clear afaik. You seem pretty knowledgeable thank you. Are you familiar with the Nordic Bronze Age, and the Vendel era?
