I may have to look into this book as well, along with Book of the Five Rings. Any other recommendations? I've had a sudden spike of interest in reading this kind of stuff.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Interested to see how this goes. I've been thinking about getting the Book of the Five Rings, too. I also want to try some of the European styles, especially sword and dagger.

Sorry, I should have made myself clear. I ordered a katana bokken and a ko-katana bokken instead of two of the similar thing.

Yeah, I can see how easier it is to have a sword and shield work together instead of trying to do two similar things at once. I think the idea of the two-sword style was to have one shorter than the other so that they don't get caught up in each other. I think it also allows a sort of attack-and-defend maneuver with either blade at the same time, although a sword and shield will almost always be more effective.

I saw this offer on the main SBG store and my inner nerd could not pass up this opportunity. sbg-sword-store.sword-buyers-guide.com/bokken-bogo.htmlI have little to no sword experience other than basic cuts but I've always wanted to try Musashi Miyamoto's style (Niten Ichi Ryu I think it's called.) Of course, I can also practice with the bokken individually instead of dual-wielding them together. Anyone have any tips for me? Something like videos or literature to refer to would be a plus, too.

The 3in1 oil I bought from Long's works pretty well on my katana, which I believe is 9260 steel if I remember correctly. I usually store it in the saya and it hasn't given me problems yet. I do take it out once in a while for some practice swings but without cutting stuff.

I never understood why you would go to see a monster movie for human plot. It's like going to a sushi place and ordering tacos. Also, did anyone else see Mothra's wings when Godzilla did his nuclear pulse thing? I think that was a nice touch.

Now that is a sword I could get behind.

The only Fire Emblem game I've played was Fates because the box art caught my eye (I ended up playing the Conquest route before the Birthright route) but I have some knowledge from previous games by reading wikis. The new Fire Emblem: Three Houses game that's coming out seems interesting but I don't own a Nintendo Switch. I know that Azur Lane is quite popular for mobile gamers but I've never tried it myself. A couple of my friends play it and it seems to be about anthropomorphic naval ship girls.

I also tried Fire Emblem Heroes but the story didn't really interest me. I just summon on banners for characters I like. It's most likely because I'm biased towards the Fate characters because I know most of them from previous series. As for Girls' Frontline, I'm kind of a gun nerd so I think it's cute to see girls named after guns with their own quirks and personalities.

It's been a while since I logged on here since I've been so busy with work and life. As a result, I've been passing whatever free time I get by playing mobile games. The only two I really play are Fate Grand Order and Girls' Frontline. Both have pretty good storylines, but I think Girls' Frontline has a deeper plot. It's basically about a post-WWII world and humans have created these androids called Tactical Dolls that help them work in society, whether it's for civilian or military purposes. The main story has you working with a PMC group that consists mostly of civilian dolls (all female) repurposed for combat and named after their assigned firearms. Anyways, what games do you guys play to pass time?

I shoot real guns sometimes but airsoft guns are my big expensive hobby other than swords. So I guess, no I don’t really shoot airguns that are actually dangerous. I've recently gotten back into that sport after over 9years. I also got some of my friends back into it along with a newcomer but they haven't played an actual game at the local field yet since it seems like they are trying to get prepared with gear and whatnot first before jumping in. I myself own a gas blowback M4 that I customized to replicate the SOPMOD II look. One of my old friends recently bought a gas blowback MP7, another has a crapload of MP5s and an AK, and my new friend got a gas blowback M4 CQB model with the shorter barrel. I have a bunch of others but the SOPMOD II is my favorite.

Anyone up to date with Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin? Also, there's Goblin Slayer which is coming out with an anime adaptation but I'm not sure if I would enjoy it. I remember reading several pages of the light novel at the bookstore.

I find myself growing quite fond of the Nasuverse depiction of Mordred. I disliked her at first for being another genderbend character but she's grown on to me.
I also like the members of Blue Team in the Halo lore.

Yeah, it's going be a castle siege mode called Breach. Attackers try to break into the castle while Defenders have to keep them out. If the battle manages to break all the way in, there's a massive Warden NPC who's a king and fights along side the Defenders. Also, I don't think the expansion will be free. I'm guessing at least $40 at most. I'm on another thread where we talk about about possible characters like a flag bearer/banner maiden, a smug rapier guy, or even hoplites. It's pretty hilarious because some guys predicted a bald monk and a hook sword user jokingly.

It's a little late but Ubisoft just announced a new faction at this past E3 conference. The faction is called "Wu Lin" and will include four new heroes based on Chinese warriors. Vanguard hero is like a palace guard who uses a dao, heavy hero is an old warrior who uses a guan dao, assassin hero is a dancer who uses twin hook swords, and hybrid hero is a monk with a staff.

I'm also on Xbox One and I primarily main Nobushi, but the reworks for Kensei and Orochi have got me going back to them. I thought I would enjoy playing Lawbringer, but his playstyle is reliant on turtling up and getting parries. Me and some other players like to joke around that his only real offense is throwing a crap load of bombs, but it's become less of a joke nowadays. Valkyrie is really fun with mixups, but her damage is on the low end and Gladiator just seems to be a power-creep hero compared to her.

It's always nice to get something for the first time. My first real sword was a custom from sinoswords but I haven't really gotten around to cutting with it since I also live in an apartment. It has a leather wrap because the normal cotton(?) one I requested was out of stock but I think it looks nicer than expected.

I binged Noragami Aragoto and Interviews with Monster Girls over the weekend. The former is has pretty cheesy action but it's charming in a way. It's got nice comedy though, and I didn't realize why I was so drawn to the animation because it has the same studio that did Fullmetal Alchemist. Oh, and Miyuki Sawashiro is in that show as Bishamonten. It's amazing how her voice sounds so different yet recognizable as Sinon from SAO/GGO, or even the four different characters in Fate Grand Order (Artemis, Mordred, Florence Nightingale, and Rama.)
As for Monster Girls, it was really nice to watch. A nice breather from all the action shows and the dark stuff. You have a hyperactive vampire, a model student dullahan, a sweet yuki-onna, and an awkward succubus math teacher.
I also saw the new Fullmetal Panic but I really need some sort of refresher since it's been almost 8 years since I saw the earlier seasons.
