I had a similar thing with DSA. Bought a warhammer from them through the SBG store. The shaft was seriously warped (major issue, not cosmetic in the slightest). Got a refund, but had to pay shipping (SBG store offered to cover it, but I turned them down since its not fair for them to loose money on someone else's fault)

I suspect that the 1885 will have a similar blade as the 1853. The ballance seems okay from Kelly's review, but aesthetically the spear point looks a bit off to me.
For the 1821 - do you mean their pipe-back sword, or the 1845 version with the "Wilkinson" blade. Their 1845 looks okay, but the blade is only 33' - seems a little bit short for a cavalry sword, but I could be wrong. Oldswords gives me a range of blade lengths, so possibly room for individual customization going on.

Have some Kaneie katana's on closeout at SBG for $300. I don't do Katana's, so I dunno if thats good or bad. Just figured I would throw this out there anyways

I have been looking for one of these for a while. They used to be all over e-bay, but now I can only find one seller who still has the right-handed version. I also see a lot of sellers dumping what appears to be the last of their left-handed stock.
I also noticed that its been a while since they came back in stock at KoA. This raises a question in my mind as to whether CS is planning to discontinue them. So far as I can tell from their website, they are still available, but perhaps some of you with longer ears and deeper connections have heard otherwise.

Today was 88, but it felt like 100 according to the weather network. Whatever happened to Canada being the land of perpetual snow and darkness eh? Our pet polar bears can't take much more of this

So its a more over-built version of an over-built 1796 repro....and you *want* that? Strange person you are....
No reply from them as of yet - perhaps they are more goldfish minded than I am

Yeah - the lack of shipping and exchange rate is a big draw. If the grips are fishskin and not leather, I might still go for it
If you give me a list, I can grab some knots for you. Their prices don't neccessarily reflect the current US-CAD exchange rates, so could be a good deal if I buy them for you using the local currency and you pay me back using the USD equivalent

I will try to visit - though from their website their Ottawa facility looks like a warehouse/office building, with no actual store. Not sure how much I would see by visiting them. Though at the very least, I can always march down if there is an issue with getting orders in (and save on shipping)
What do you make of the swords? They *almost* look like the Universal ones. Not sure if I want to pay that much for one of those things if it is a Universal product...
Dun suppose there is anything you want from them?

Due to the appalling Canadian-us exchange rate, I have been looking a bit closer to home for my sword buying needs. One company' which I have revisited as a result was military heritage. Since I last looked. They brought out a "95th rifles" saber, which is like a regular saber with no fuller. Interestingly, I dun know of a corresponding universal sword model. Maybe they have started looking at other suppliers? Interesting, tho not necessarily good www.militaryheritage.com/95thriflessword.htmAlso, not sure what to make of this. Looks like the universal 1845 sword, but the grip is a different materiall, and the blade is shorter. Odd. May consider looking into it (they are only a 10 minute drive from my place after all)... www.militaryheritage.com/images/1822%20light%20cavalry%20sabre_1.jpgThoughts?
