According to an email I received earlier from Magnoli Props, the sword blade is “tempered carbon steel”, but the “hilt and pommel are made from a zinc alloy”. They also stated production is going a little slower than expected, but pre-ordered swords will ship out early next year. Hope that helps clear things up.

if worse comes to worse, you can have a new grip made by Huer-Ta or Jimbo Curry (Jimbo's mostly on Facebook).

Awesome move! Too many grifters/conmen (and women) online - great way to protect members.

Yes it wrong and a vendor shouldn't be a mod able to delete comments about a review he did. Yeah, I agree

Why do you think you got blocked? You guys argue a lot in the past? Nope - don’t even know the guy. Never interacted with him while I’ve been an M&V or before when I was a regular member.

No names (for the time being)... I don’t know if it’s a specific rule on SBG (I don’t think it is), but isn’t it at least frowned upon for an admin/mod to preemptively block a member of the page (me, an M&V in this case) here and on the SBG Facebook page before the person made a “destructive testing/review” post?
Just seems *very* weird to me seeing as I’ve never interacted with the person before, here OR on Facebook, and I’m blocked from seeing that person’s posts here AND on FB. Just seems sketchy to me.
Comments?
Edit: I can now see the posts here (don’t know if it was intentional or just a forum glitch), but am still blocked on the SBG FB page.

2 different styles... the 1st vid shows Toei-Ryu-Iai-Batto-Renmei (right foot first in all standing techniques), the second is Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaido, which has a slightly different take on the starting foot placement. Each "ryu" of Iaido has slight to major differences. As for which way to start, I was taught (Eishin Ryu/Nippon Kobudo Iaido) standing techniques are started with the right foot, but as time went on, was taught that it depends on how much space (ma-ai) there is between you and your opponent. Sometimes it's best to start with the right foot, sometimes it makes sense to start with the left foot depending on the spacing.

nice work might as well antique the scabbard fittings to match The H/T scabbard fittings are stainless,...no? Antiquing that to match might be awfully hard to do. First of all, that looks great! As for the Stainless question: the first run of Printed Armoury fittings from a few years ago were made out of Stainless Steel. Every subsequent run after that have been made out of mild steel, from the “unfinished” versions to the fully polished versions. A note of advice for those wishing to darken or “blue” their polished fittings from The Printed Armoury: because of the polishing process, the steel is sometimes very difficult to darken (too “bright”). A suggestion to get around this problem is to use some kind of degreasing agent and then using a Scotchbrite pad (very fine, not coarse) to “open up the pores” so that the bluing or other coloring agent can “bite” into the surface. The same process might work with the Stainless scabbard parts, or they may not since the high chromium content in Stainless prevents most bluing aganets from working on it. There are some Stainless bluing chemicals available, but they’re way more expensive than those for carbon steels.

Talk about a killer design, the Reisläufer looks like the absolute perfect hand guard for a sword Jimbo Curry has used the Reisläufer hilt set on several H/T longswords before... check out these pics

FYI: the same sale is going on at LG Martial Arts... because the items are in flux, the best way to see what’s available is to go to the CAS website (http://casiberia.com/) and then contact us via email at support@lgmartialarts.com, via direct message here, or contacting Luis LG Garza on Facebook Messenger to get a quote for the item(s)

LemuelTheLemur (Mike Jia) is the genius behind all of the fittings from The Printed Armoury. He’s been tinkering with some ideas, but I can’t say anything is for sure. As for complex hilts available right now (they have to be custom fitted though - they’re not slide on replacements) are the Reisläufer Complex Swiss Guard and Pommel, and the Warden Twisted Guard and Pommel, available here: www.lgmartialarts.com/custom-fittings/

I've been eyeing this model off and on for years. Only thing holding me back besides money was the original hollow grip. I assume this is no longer the case? The Kingston Arms side sword does not have a hollow grip, it’s solid... it does have a threaded pommel though. I don’t have any pics of one that disassembled, but if you search for “Kingston Arms” on the SBG Facebook page, you should find my post selling them (Luis LG Garza), and some others posting pics of the pommel taken off of one.

Tsunami dragon sells T10 DH bare blades too. I wouldn't touch Tsunami Dragon with a 10 foot pole - not reputable, and way over priced with their items. *** Note: these are my (Luis Garza's) PERSONAL beliefs about Tsunami Dragon *** What you're talking about is RS's MO... they sell crap swords, they get "outed", they try to "fix" their reputation by selling "nice" swords and/or giving some away to "reviewers", and get a new set of people to say good things about them. The next group is set: they see all the "rave reviews" from new people, start ordering swords (Asian, Euro, or fantasy), and they start getting "good" swords. But then, as expected, the old RS comes out of hiding and starts selling poo swords again, and do it for as long as they can before being "outed" again. This has been happening for well over a decade, with no end in sight because people keep on giving them the benefit of the doubt without doing any kind of research. IMHO, RyanSword, SoN (a subsidiary of RS, which, to be honest, does sell other maker's swords as well), Tsunami Tiger - all of them are banes on the sword/collector's market since they steal trademarked intellectual property, they sell one thing and deliver a completely (and lesser) item; in essence, they take legitimate newbies/intermediate buyers and prey on them. These companies have NO redeeming qualities to them, making the industry look bad. *Edit: LG Martial Arts does NOT have any experience with Forge Direct swords, so they were not mentioned at all
