Has been Sorted out. But due to it taking several months to resolve I'm still sour about it.
I have waited long enough to post this. I have given him multiple chances to contact me and get this taken care of.
I bought two swords from Dave on October 2nd. I paid him right away and after countless "they will go out tomorrow" from him they were eventually shipped October 10th. Not a big deal for most people but I was going out of town for a week and they'd be stuck in my porch in under 30 degree weather. He assured me they'd go out and get to me before I left. Never happened and I had to make arrangements for someone to get them.
I eventually got home and picked them up from my neighbor who told me the box was flattened like a pancake and a piece was sticking out. It was one of the crossguards. I opened the box up and what do I find? The swords are thrown into the box with a piece of cardboard barely separating the two and 5-6 pieces of paper for packaging. Nothing else! This of course pissed me off considering I did the math before we made a deal and explained it's going to be almost $50 to ship these(factoring in packaging material and a correct box) and this price was factored into my price. It cost him $28 to ship them so he pocketed the rest of the money I assumed was going towards a good packaging job.
Onto the swords. Blades were Horribly sharpened (gouges running at least 5mm up past the edge) rust on crossguard of one and both appear to have been rubbed with Scotch Brite pads on crossguard and pommel(to remove rust I'm guessing) pommel nuts are all chewed up from vicegrips. One of the swords appears to be a "seconds" as there is a noticeable dip in the edge towards the tip. I didn't bring any of this up to him as it was the least of my issues. And I can live with them.
The grip on one of them was split. I noticed a gap in the leather around grip so inspected it a little more closely. I could feel a crack going at least halfway down(initially) before I did anything I contacted him. He told me to remove the leather. I peeled back a little and sent him photos. The grip was split 1/3 of the way down. He immediately accused me of doing it! Saying there was a piece of leather inserted into the handle to remove the gap in the leather. And I, with my Herculean strength split the handle when I dug out the chunk of leather(lmao)
We go back and forth and he says send the grip back and he'll make me a new one within a week. I sent it out the next day and he received it October 23rd. I have NOT heard a thing back from him. He has logged in almost every day since. I last sent him a message saying I expect a reply back next time you log in. This was on the 12th(when he last logged in). And shockingly enough he has not logged in since
So, yeah. I sent this POS $315 and I have some well used swords and one is now missing a grip. Next time I'll go ahead and spend the extra $80 and buy new.
