Hey folks,
As many of you will know, SBG has contacts with pretty much every major sword supplier around the world.
The best suppliers and sword makers seek out feedback on their swords - refining them based on this feedback, or just leaving them as they are if they happened to simply 'get it right the first time' (it's rare, but it does happen!).
The problem for suppliers is finding reliable people to review and test the swords properly. And that my friends is where you come in..
Right now and into early 2021 there are quite a few swords that need an independent review. So if you are interested in being a part of this and get some free swords and the kudos that come along with a new review of a new sword, now is your chance!
To enter and register your interest, please provide the following details in this thread:
Your state and country Your preferred sword type (i.e. Medieval swords, Fantasy Swords, Viking Swords, Katana, etc, etc).
Links to any reviews you have done previously
We will then go over each entry and contact you directly if we find a sword that suits your interest and is approved by the maker based on how good your reviews to date are.
All swords sent will become YOUR property after the review is finished - so you are free to do with it whatever you want to so looking forward to seeing who will put their hand up..!
- Paul

Interest: Tactical swords
Previous reviews: I had many which are now lost to time. But I think I could try again. My reviews include extensive test cutting and trail clearing. I am an FMA practitioner with extensive experience handling short blades/two handed choppers and try to make my reviews very dynamic and interesting. I make videos when I review rather than just text.

I'd be happy to do youtube video reviews any sword or knife. Though my primary interest is in late medieval European swords, I do own and review swords and indeed other types of arms in any other time and culture. Your state and country: British Columbia, Canada Your preferred sword type (i.e. Medieval swords, Fantasy Swords, Viking Swords, Katana, etc, etc): Primary interest is medieval arming swords/longswords. But I own dozens of swords and arms in other categories as well. My specialty is doing research of the historical background of the weapons and the techniques associated with them. I also include extensive context-appropriate cutting footage in my video reviews. I own roughly 3 dozens medieval and Renaissance European swords, all the way from the makers like Albion, Angus Trim, Arms and Armor, Valiant Armoury, down to Windlass, Hanwei, Cold Steel. Sword types include various longswords, arming swords, sideswords, falchions, messers. But I'm familiar with Viking-Era swords, Roman swords, military sabres, Chinese swords, Japanese swords, Indian swords, and SEAsian swords. I also have some experience with Dane axes, poleaxes, and maces. Links to any reviews you have done previously My YouTube channel of sword reviews: www.youtube.com/channel/UCszUjb5Ap7MzilWkdWiA54QI also have half a dozen sword reviews recorded and in production right now, and to be released before the end of 2020.

Thanks for the responses so far and to everyone who has thrown their hat in the ring. TWO of you have already just been contacted - but this is just the beginning (another one will be selected in the next few days!)
My goal is that almost EVERYONE who is up to the task will receive SOMETHING to test out and review as more products become available and more manufacturers contact us to get something into your hands. So don't worry if it appears you were skipped over, you weren't because this will be an ongoing project..
I will personally select each reviewer based on what is available, their interests and also their contributions to the SBG community to date. And there is a bit of a surprise in the first round (you really never know what you might end up with, from entry level to a 'dreams come true' sword' - and you get to keep what we send you of course!).
I will let the selected members chime in if they wish to, otherwise if anyone else is interested, feel free to put your name down and when something becomes available, I'll PM you to see if you are interested..!
Feel a bit like Santa really (this is a lot of fun)!

I've been selected to review a new tactical sword, and I'm thrilled to get back into reviewing. You can be sure you'll have an accurate idea of just what this blade can do and handle. I probably won't hit any cinderblocks, but I'll put it through every task I think a sword or machete should be able to take and show you the honest results.

I would be keen to test out any Japanese,Chinese,Asian,Roman,Viking style blades. I am in Australia. Only review I have done so far is the cheap Kawashima I own and was more a mini review. Thing is actually holding up ok too and handles bamboo well, which I can access plenty of. sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/58156/kawashima-katana

Oh, I guess I’ll give it a shot. This sounds too cool to pass up. I’m in Georgia, USA. I have very eclectic interests, and I think I could give a fair review to just about anything sharp. My knowledge of Japanese blades is not extensive, but I am well versed in Euros from the classical period forward and a wide variety of ethnographic blades. Here are two reviews that come to mind. sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/50047/cutlery-forge-welded-axe-headsbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/60773/lk-chen-striking-eagleI need to update that last one with photos. This is a good reminder for me. Oh, probably worth noting that I have a problem with my neighbor’s mature, end of season bamboo creeping into my yard. Anything I review will get the chance to cut a more interesting target than bottles. 😈

Nebraska, USA Medieval/Viking period I went to link to my reviews and couldn't find one! I'm sure I have a few drafts for various Albions I've owned. I have some footage of me cutting, and I've owned, handled, and cut with well over 30 different swords from the above mentioned periods. Just the other night I told my wife there was probably about a 100 gram difference between these two trainers I have and she didn't believe me. We weighed them and it was 118 grams . I could put together a couple of sample reviews if that would help out my credibility. Two questions... if there were a sword I was offered for review that I think is out of my wheelhouse, would it be fine to refuse it? (I've only owned one messer, less than a handful of antique sabres and would probably be useless in reviewing most renaissance blades) Second, would there be a deadline for review? Thanks!
