hi Mike, aside from these fat comps/flaming pigs, do the smaller muzzle brakes bring any significant compensation or flash reduction to the table?
Do the size, number of holes and length of the muzzle brake contribute and up or down? I don't mind the standard bird cage but I'll definitely invest in a better flash hider if possible. If anyone has any knowledge of this, please jump on in: I'd greatly appreciate the info.

If anyone has any knowledge of this, please jump on in: I'd greatly appreciate the info. All the designs that have openings or ports on the sides and front wall(s) will increase side blast. Most will increase flash. About the only other "compensators" that perform any flash or noise reduction are "linear compensator" like the ones from Kies, Levang and the Hera LC. I have a couple of Levangs on longer barrel ARs. They work pretty well to redirect the noise downrange as all the ports are in the front face. They don't really do much for flash attenuation, but a bit better than a bare muzzle.

Too heavy looking for me :O Thanks for those links Mike. That Hera looks pretty nice. I went ahead and got a strike industries Venom (I shoot a lot at indoor and outdoor ranges) I'm doubtful it will do anything for the noise. I did consider the BCM battle comp 1.5 (it's cool looking). Performance wise I have no experience with any aftermarket brakes, suppressors, compensators, etc' These "hybrid" types are very confusing and I can't find any "data" or at least youtube videos with some testing

I'll tell ya what I told my buddy at the range who was &^%$ing with me about it as well... purple or no purple... it will shoot you just as dead. :) Although maybe you would prefer my other AR...

Yes. Yes. Green. Much better!
I'm thinking of giving mine the "green treatment" also.

I think black metal with OD green furniture looks good too. That's how my one AR with the giggle switch is setup. Looks good and makes it easy to tell from the rest.

That paint job looks darn good. Is that cerakote or duracoat? (assuming that hogue doesn't make purple grips lol)
Barne....I mean the badger should be purple as well (glittery would be ninja) I'd walk around with a pink AR anyday over one wearing an octopus rail
Now burnt bronze cerakote rubs me the right way

It's Gun-kote.

Local active duty army guy works at a gun shop here on the side doing gun-kote... he does an epic job. Has done some really interesting stuff, mine is boring by comparison, but he did a BANG up job matching the purple color.

It looks great, and it's really going to come together once you've BeDazzled the receiver ;)

I still think it needs a My Little Pony theme paint job on the upper and lower receivers.
Sean's next AR build.
Sean's ideal action hero figure.
Sean's alter-ego.
Hee hee hee hee... love ya bro!

I think I'm gonna have to build a Hello Kitty AR, just to keep up with Sean, you know. Here is the laser etched logo on the ejection port side of the lower receiver.
And here is the other side of the lower receiver.
