C'mon, be a MAN! Ric Willy has a vid posted of him cutting in the rain... REAL men don't let a little water stop them!!! ;D Congrats on your first cut... now that the addiction is fed... its only going to get worse from here. BTW - How were the factory edges on your Norman Sword?

It was storming outside, and I would rather not get struck by lighting while holding a sword (as much as I enjoyed that Highlander movie). I have not tried the Norman out yet, but it seems like it is pretty sharp. I have inspected the edge and cannot find a visible secondary bevel. Like Tom's EMSHS, there is a blunt strip close to the hilt. However, this is not as blunt as Tom's and only goes on for about 5 inches.

good to hear about the Norman Jonathan. so is the blunt area of the blade extremely thick and ridgid while the sharp are especially near the tip get pretty thin and flexible? I'm just trying to figure out how much it tapers. sounds like a winner to me.

It doesn't look quite as thick as your sword. The entire sword is a lot stiffer than my VA LS.

well sure the 304 has a much longer blade. you've seen my distal taper and flex in cut video and thread right? does it flex like that? with the belly of the bend not in the center of the blade or is it closer to the middle where it wants to bend? if you do get about flexing you blade becareful not to take it past a 30 to 45 degree bend at first or even less if it feels very stiff. we don't want you to put a bend in it. not that I think that would do it, certainly it should not but I haven't handled your sword so I cannot know. also if you do that be very carefull and don't cut yourself. it's easy to do that way

I haven't really tried to flex it any yet, but I will later on today and give you the results.
