South Georgia is very hot and humid, like shadowhowler said. I spend two thirds of my summer break working in the 90-105 degree weather to get these swords. I have a feeling that I will be glad that I did. I would like to thank all of you, because since I joined this forum I have learned vast amounts of knowledge, and I asked hundreds of questions. Thank you for being patient with me. I wish I knew when I will get my 304S.

Blah. I'm confused with all that temperatures. I suppose you don't know what's all that numbers in Celsiuses? P.S. Jon, congrats on making a decision.

100 degrees are 35°C I think. Just google it if you really want to know.

I ordered the Hawei Tinker line Norman tonight. Marc from wiwingtiswordsupply is a good business man. I recommend buying swords from him and Paul, but I will have proof of their quality when I receive my swords.

I bought my one sword from Paul's store, and he was EXTREMELY HELPFUL! I probably sent him 20 or so e-mails to determine which DSA sword was right for me. But, Utah is still hot for me, comparatively it's not, but to me, this is the limit

Jonathan, I see you speculating about maybe getting the Hanwei GSoW instead of the H/T viking sword. I that it might be a very good idea so long as it doesn't impair you getting the other swords you want. the Norman and Viking will be very similar swords but the AT304 and the GSoW will be very different. this way you will get greater exposure to different swords types.

Not just a sword, Ebon, but two swords - the 304S and the Norman. I will probably still get the viking, Tom, but I am not ruling out the GSOW. Both are very nice swords. I hope that everyone doesn't mind my company on these forums, because I intend to stay.

Mind you?!?! I'm glad that you're here, man! The more the merrier, as they say. ;D Well, as long as they're intelligent and not a trouble-maker. But I think that you fit within those parameters pretty well. LOL. I agree about the stand; I used a thick plastic adjustable table for awhile, and my cutting improved drastically when I made some stands. It's definitely worth the $10 and 1 hour of work. I'm looking forward to your reviews... -Slayer

Thank you for bringing that up, Chris. I need to make at least one cutting stand because it will give me something to do until I get my swords. I will try to fit your criteria Slayer, lol.

For that last one..
I'd go for the viking. You already have a longsword that's a great cutter. The GSOW is bigger and heavier and no nonsense, sure. It would be cool to have, too. But it's hard to find a really stellar viking sword at this pricepoint. I haven't used one myself, but I've heard only good things about the tinker viking sword on here, save for the early edge issues on this line.
I suppose the blade is a bit like the Norman, but the hilt is what makes the look of the sword for me. It seems like a totally different sword than the Norman. I think the Viking sword is beautiful.

if it were me, I'd go with either an EMSHS or a bastard since they are different sword types, but see Jonathan is more into the vikings and all that while I'm into all swords from all periods but types XII, XIV, and XVIII are my favs. to each his own, but I'd only need one Type X right away. the Norman and the Viking are both type X and they are pretty close in weight and balance so they'll be very similar in handling. but who am I to say Jonathan shouldn't have two, after all I have 3 type XII's

Hey, Jon! I ran out of 2x4's when I was making my 3 cutting stands, so I had to inprovise for the third 4x4's base. Does your family have a Christmas Tree stand? It works PERFECTLY to hold the 4x4, and has less stuff sticking out at the base for you to trip on. In fact, it's nearly as stable as my traditional stands, and it took 1/10th of the time to make! Just take a piece of 4x4 as long as you'd like your stand to be high, and stick it in the Christmas tree stand. Tighten it up, and there you go. As usual, just a thought. ;D I hope that helps someone, 'cause it sure works well for me. -Slayer
