"The head of this beautiful, cold-forged weapon was made from mithral, and the shaft was made from adamantite. A diamond coating was magically adhered to the entire weapon after its forging. The head was engraved with magical inscriptions, which were covered by the symbols of the dwarven gods Dumathoin,[2] Moradin, and Clangeddin Silverbeard.[3] Aegis-fang was a cumbersome weapon, but was perfectly balanced for Wulfgar. Any person not over 6 ft 5 in (1.9 m) and lacking considerable strength would have a hard time wielding it properly.[4] Aegis-fang was specifically attuned to its wielder Wulfgar and would magically return to his hand upon his telepathic command.[5] "
have wanted to do this one for a while, since im a bit of a drizzt tragic see sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/62929/twinkle-icingdeath-cannon-version-finished ,and loke bi ass hammers and maces, have had the gear hanging around for years was originally gonna be a pommel but had idea to use it for aegis fang, had to plug hole in front addd shaft to back, made the box from six pieces of flat steel 100mm square, spike is a repurposed steel plum bob, shaft is rebar, based the look around the one irish mike made the cover art for streams of silver with my own twist on it, head will eventually be silvery blue and shaft blackish greenish purplish, gonna be hell to swing but swing it i shall lol will post as get more done

I think some degree of realism is always necessary. Sons of Anarchy would have been ridiculous if they had bikes without motors (coconut shells?), wear hats with ostrich feathers and fight with water pistols. Edit: Humph, thinking about this... perhaps even more entertaining this way? i would watch the snot out of that show, could go real gritty and watch the short lived "bastard executioner" that had serious amount of violence and "realism" of course it also has ed sheeran to ruin it for everyone lol

yep expected the jokes but for reference mick dundees bowie is "15 7/8" overall. 10 7/8" blade" mine is 20.5 with 14.5 inch blade so it could be considered a small sword "thats not a knife" lol

watching any historical type drama and expecting realism is like watching sons of anarchy and thinking that's what outlaw mcs are like, i just watch em for the fun escapism, kind of gave up on last kingdom bout season 4 as gap was so long forgot story line then it became repetitive, if it was accurate i dont think anyone would actually tune in as it would be too "violent" and "racist" etc, since now all tv has to reflect the world we live in despite being set 100s of years ago and in a country that didnt have a whole lot of mixed ethnicity

just finished up this piece after having it sitting around in my pile of jobs for weeks or longer lol. biggest bowie ive made in terms of mass have done longer and thicker, blade is spring steel 5mm thick, handle is oak guard is brass, stats overall length :20.5 inches/51.5 cm blade 14.5 inches/35cm
width: 3.1/4 inches/8.5cm at widest point
point of balance: 2inches/50 mm above guard
weight 38ounces /1079grams
surprisingly moves well for a massive chopper still have to get to cut testing but will shred paper with no problem

was working with a young guy (18) who just quit to join the army, wants to be special forces, but joined up as infantryman to start with, showed him this and he thought it was super cool, my thinking is he has played too much call of duty as seems to think that special forces/infantry is all kicking in doors guns blazing wearing all the cool gear, and thinks karambits are awesome , so this was totaly his cup of tea,i hope hes never in a suituation to find out how useful/not this is, all i think is someone at zu is one hell of a salesperson and has convinced the army this is the way to go,

This was the peak evolution of military knives, everything since, was a downward spiral yep that'd back em up

cool vid , good points, but still not sold on idea, also have a problem with "self defense" knives, if your a attacked in normal life and pull out a knife your no longer defending your attacking, different thing for military personnel, here in vic aus you could be arrested just for carrying that before you even used it to "defend" yourself, you can create distance with easier to carry items of everyday objects eg car keys/pen hook finger through keyring and flail someone with them, jab a pen at someone, same effect and has other use you can start your car open your door write a note lol , not saying that this style of knife has no uses just that it only has one use, stabbing, ergo not really useful if you had to rely on it in a survival scenario, after all guns run out of ammo, people get lost you might need to process wood for fire or a spear cant do that if the only thing you have hasnt got an edge to do so or a shape conducive to doing so

1. Yes, 22 years 2. Yes , 6 combat tours: 2 in Iraq, 1 Afghanistan, 2 Kosovo/Bosnia, Panama 89 3. Yes. I know a lot of things I wish I didn't. One thing I can say for certain is that the Australian Army never consulted me about this knife design, so I guess my opinion doesn't really matter at the end of the day. Fair enough. If they asked any of us, they would likely be issuing sabers again, at the very least haha. Edit: I didn't mean what I said as a jab, by the way. I just meant that you were probably stationed during the time that this self defense system would have relivant. sabers! , na not aussie enough. would be flambrge swords all round, then could be "thats not a sword" never been in military (not my thing but have studied and taught martial arts for 40 years, with some of the worlds best) and have to say i agree that this has been a victim of style over function, have seen/trained with guys who could cut you to pieces with a blade and think they would struggle to use this effectively, think it would get hung up trying to get it in position dont see why they dont train more with this www.awm.gov.au/collection/C1194234 since they can still get them and could do mad damage with one

found a pic of the guys holding this thing now even less impressed only serves one purpose, stabbing, showed it to my dad (ex cadet armorer) his response was you cant use that for anything, its useless for survival, also found vid of the trash they appear to be teaching cadets www.facebook.com/watch/?v=531781973697303 this appears to be a defense against an aggressive cuddle, had ex student/ instructor from dojo enlist said he had cadets asking him to teach in free time because he was so much better, thought this was due to him being ex champion boxer/kickboxer but now not so sure, glad modern warfare isnt cqc anymore
