Welcome, and I sympathize with you concerning swords/law. I have a near similar issue but due to a quirk in the law repros are legal. However, there is still red tape involved. We have several members that live in Oz. You might start a new thread to inquire as to who and get information about acquiring swords. Good luck.

Yeah, feels like mine now! Not a lot different, but enough to make it special. My stuff always feels better after I do a little tuning, no matter how small. Nice job.

I was under the impression that you can still order stuff that is listed out of stock on their site to be custom made You could reply to their response with that.

A suguha hamon is my favourite. That is a handsome blade, I like.

Paul is correct. I see katanas advertised as full tang but in fact the tang does not continue the full length of the grip. Iāve never measured mine but the tangs are about Ā¾ of the length of the grip. I suppose that is one of the major differences in a traditional katana and ātacticalā, the tacticals are composed of scales for the grip and are not meant to be removed.

Welcome to the forum. You can reduce the pixel size of photos to fit your restriction. There are programs available for such cases. Image Resizer is one, Iāve never used it, fast-image-resizer.en.softonic.com/download Itās free and there are others out there. I use MS Paint as it is included with several MS OSs and is of course free from that stand point. Also, some cameras have an āemailā setting that will take a photo with fewer pixels.

Well now, Iāve reconsidered. Keep in mind that those polishes work by removing the upper layer of metal. The more you polish the less silver remains.

āI have this large kitchen knife I bought for my Michael Myers costumeā I think this says it all. For a costume what difference does it make? If you want a real knife forget that thing as youāll spend more time and effort trying to make it into something itās not. On the other hand, if you want a learning experienceā¦

āThe sheath looks to be silver plated with some wearing off.ā I suspect that is nickel plating as that was a common plating. That, and in addition to the fact that silver tarnishes and that is bright.

I find when an angle is more than 22 the blade starts loosing it's cutting capacity. You can test different angles on the clothing worn in your area. If I remember correctly you live on an island or a hot climate? You are close, make that an isthmus at 10Ā°N. I am in the process of decreasing my angles from 25 to 22Ā½Ā° but have not declared that a pressing matter and have only done so with machetes so far. My cutlass is not far away from being my first sword. Your post made me do further testing, something Iāve put off too long. The common dress here is one shirt. I wear two when off my property. I strongly suspect the bad guy(s) to wear a hooded sweat shirt over this. So I just completed new but not complete trials this morning. I used an old but seldom worn knitted shirt, so it still had much of its original sizing actually feeling a bit thick, of 100% cotton. I think mostly synthetic or partly synthetic shirts are worn here, but am not sure. From previous testing I know that knitted material is more difficult to cut than broadcloth as it tends to stretch and give. I am not willing to sacrifice a sweat shirt. I placed the T shirt over a gallon, water filled, heavy walled plastic jug. I used two blades, my Weapons Edge Klewang Cutlass and KHHIās GI4 kukri. The cutlass has a 25Ā° edge. I do not know what the GI4 is. Itās the factor edge that I honed. Both are newspaper sharp. Both cut through to the jugs, as expected. The kukri gave the largest, wound, also as I expected. With my antique 15ā kukri Iāve done this using 3 rugs and made a larger wound channel. I donāt think the GI4 with its 15ā blade will equal this. That 15ā antique is my favourite combat knife but I rarely use it. Iāll do more testing time permitting. Afterwards and nothing really pressing as long as I had the cutlass out I decided to take the opportunity to change the grind. The job went faster than I thought but it is way too soon to pass judgement. No doubt it'll cut better, but the question is how robust will it be? I'll search around for some clothing and will continue.

Iād say itās bird of prey, and definitely not a woodpecker. Since the Death Dealer is fictional that bird may well be also.

I have started ordering my kukris āwithout an overcoat on the gripā. Even one 'raw', as they feel more secure in the hand. The well-polished wood with an overcoat that the westerners prefer is more attractive and comes as standard is not for me. I do have a single layer of friction tape on my antiques. The purpose there is to protect the wood and it does offer a more secure hold. But Iām seriously considering removing the tape.

Thatās the size of my largest and most powerful kukri and ya, itās a bit large, for my size 8 hand anyway. Also that one is 15ā and comes in at 1024 g. I intend to test it on bone and protected gallon jugs to verify that or if itās just an illusion. Itāll halve a heavy wall gallon cloro bottle with ease, something that some of my 19th and 20th century swords wonāt do.

What is the circumference of the grip with the tape?

I like the subdued brass. And the grip appears fat even before the second photo with you gripping it. A 4 lb. one hander, obviously designed for a real man in mind. Grip Banding this one? Probably be Andiās only sword without grip band. š Iām not a betting man but Iāll wager that you are correct on that. Hey Andi, do I win? Do I? Huh, huh?
