I’ve been looking for a Qi Jian like the one sold by SBG years ago. There’s several on the market that look identical to it. One company confirmed the pommel was threaded and screwed on. I found one on eBay that’s going for something like 1600$ and wondering if it’s the real deal. All one piece construction.
Anybody have experience with the eBayer Chinatown-antiquer. I’ll try to post the link. The 3000 reviews look like they’ve all been written by the same person with bad English. I’ve been after this sword for a long time. I only have three swords on my list and this is one of them. Seems very difficult to find.

I should have a brand new Discerner in my shop within 2-3 weeks, straight from Albion. I can give some impressions of it then, as it has been many years since I last held one. I’m looking forward to a review!

I’ll definitely contact KOA and find out. I’ve been wanting them for over five years. If you made this post like three weeks ago I could have grabbed you the Albion Ljubljana that was at SoCal Sword fight when I was there. It was even more beautiful in person. I usually prefer cut oriented swords but I was tempted to get it myself anyways because it looked so good, but more than looking good it also handles like an absolute dream. So that is a great choice. The discerner on the other hand is very cool for its reference to the movie and King Arthur, however the reviews I have heard about it and peoples mentioning on the handling, its got a bit of mixed feedback in that regard. Still an Albion so will feel good in the hand to dry handle, though not quite to the same level of as some the ones based strictly on historical reproductions. And the movie reproduction swords are not meant to be compared to the historical ones anyways, the Conan swords for example are far too heavy to be used for training purposes. But people don't buy them for that purpose. edit* Actually you could ask Mike from Albion on facebook if the Albion Ljubljana they had at the event ended up getting sold or not. And if not there might be chance someone on the forums could pick it up for you, if Mike brings it to Las Vegas for Combat Con this summer. Not sure if I will be able to attend myself yet. Thats very generous that members of this forum are willing to pick up and ship swords for other members. A great group of people here. Thank you! I’ll check out some reviews on the discerner but I already ordered it on KOA. It’s balance isn’t too far forward and I don’t think it’s too heavy either. I wonder if it’s just the ergonomics of the handle?

I spoke to another member on the forum that mentioned they could grab the sword for me this summer if it’s still available. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I think both swords have a wait going a year or more. Unless they get issued inventory from time to time. I’m not sure how that works.

Thank you. Are there any conventions in New England? I’m in New York.

If you go to SoCal sword fight they will probably have all the museum line swords still. I couldn’t find any available swords on their website.

Pay less now and regret it later. If anyone has the Hanwei or SBG version for sale on the secondary market, I’m interested. Thanks again for all the input.

Thank you for your help. There is one on eBay. Looks the same as the one offered by sbg years ago. Prince of Qi. It’s far more expensive than I remember.

That’s what I’m looking for. Thank you! It’s out of stock. I’ll begin my search. The Chinese forge direct version also looks like a great blade!

SBG forge direct Chinese swords had a model forged from a single billet of steel. I am looking for the name so that I can possible locate one in the future. Couldn’t find it on the archived swords page. Can someone point me in the right direction? Hoping to find it on the secondary market. Might be a shot in the dark but things come up. Thank you in advance for any and all information.

So if you buy an Albion from KOA, does Albion still stand behind their product? I ordered a couple swords from Albion. A squire line Viking and the Ljubljana. The Ljubljana had a defect. I sent it back for a refund without replacement because it seemed they were having too much trouble making it. I ran into several conflicts with mike and would rather not deal with him anymore but still want the sword. I never thought to order from KOA.

I did practice my form with the Ljubljana as well as the forge direct golden dragon Jian. The Ljubljana was a little heavy but still easily completed the task. It was balanced perfectly for it. Great wrist training as well. The form I practice may not have as much wrist action as some other forms I've seen.

I know it's kinda awkward to use a European sword for Chinese martial arts but figured I could pull it off. Still the sword would only be for forms practice but would like it to be battle worthy. Just in case! Thanks for the heads up!

I was thinking to check out del tin. The Ljubljana fit all my specific requirements as well as being found close enough to the country if my ancestral origin. Proved too good to be true. Maybe in the future I'll try to order it again. I'll wait till they have more experience making it.
