I think the Ljubljana is one of the more complicated swords to make. At least it seems that way. Guess I have some bad luck. Might order it again in the future... under someone else's name. Lol. Still want the sword. I dreamed about it for four months before ordering it. Then waited fifteen months to get it only to have to return it.

I have their squire line Viking sword. They make nice quality swords. I love it. Mike did tell me that last August they lost their craftsmen. There were several blades they had to scrap. The main reason I asked for the return was because I was tired of arguing with mike. I couldn't get in touch with Howie so I became fed up and lost trust in them. Maybe I said something wrong on my part but the whole thing went awry and I just backed off. I would otherwise have no problem in waiting for a replacement.

Took 15 months for the Ljubljana I ordered. When it arrived, one blade edge was noticeably more narrow than the other three bevels. They had a particularly hard time with this sword I guess but to me, the quality isn't really what everyone is saying. Good sturdy swords, but I wouldn't trust them to make a museum line sword. At least not now. Apparently they lost all their craftsmen last year and had to train new people. I'd wait a few years before they get their skills up to par. I returned the Ljubljana to be replaced but I got tired of arguing with mike. Just asked for a refund which they did including return shipping . I'm grateful for that but really disappointed with the company. I would still buy the sword if they made it correctly. It is balanced perfectly and feels alive in the hand. Heartbroken

I picked up the squire line Viking sword. Really awesome. Love it, handles great and everything. Ordered the Ljubljana. Another awesome sword but due to complications I'm returning it. Too many headaches.

They said because it is a return its top priority and they're working on it immediately. They originally said they would make a new one. Mike said they might try to fix the one I have but gave me the option of requesting a new one, which I did. Really hoping it works out. Love the sword.

Hello, I spoke to Mike about holding on to this sword while they make another and he said they have never done that. They did earmark another sword but had to scrap it. Think I'm going to ship the sword back this week so there's no issue. They didn't give me any problems as far as returning the sword goes.

Hello, I need some advice about an Albion I just received. The Ljubljana came the other day. It's really beautiful and handles amazing. I'm not sure if I'm being too picky but one side of the beveled edge is about 1/8" narrower than the other 3 bevels. It's noticeable by eye. For a sword of this price, would/should this be overlooked?
I waited close to 16 months for the sword. Mike from Albion told me it was because they lost all their sword makers and had to train new ones. I was concerned how that would affect the quality. What are your thoughts?

Just received my SL Viking sword from Albion. I can see what you guys are talking about as far as weight goes. It's difficult training for a length of time. A lighter sword definitely has more advantages.

Yes it helps. In case of a zombie apocalypse, I should pick up a lighter sword. However I don't mind sword training with the intent on improving wrist strength and flexibility. In the future I will be looking to purchase a lighter weapon to diversify my training. Thanks again!

As far as historically accurate swords go, would there be any flexibility towards the tip on one under 2 lbs? Or even under 11/2lbs? There are many swords in the basement of my school. All but one are flexible towards the tip. The sturdy one I believe has a blade length of at least 32 if not 34 inches. I'll have to double check all the dimensions but I would like to have a sturdy blade throughout and a longer blade length as suggested by my teacher. He also recommended a POB of not more than 21/2" from the guard. I have the bug to buy at least one of the forge direct jians. My instructor said 21/2 pound blades are average and can go up to 5 lbs. now reading Scott Rodell's post, I'm really confused. My sifu trained in wutang Taiwan as a child then began Wutang NY 30 years ago. Only thing to do now is to buy swords and train hard. For the past year we've been practicing with wooden swords which weigh about 11/2 lbs.

Hoping they don't discontinue the current models w/o advanced notice. Saw the new models that are supposed to be coming out and I really like the current models much more. Sent an email requesting the POBs on black ebony dragon and golden peony jians a couple weeks ago. They must be really busy. Need that info before making a decision. Looking forward to ordering at least one and will hopefully be writing a review soon!

How come there are no reviews for the forge direct Chinese swords?

Thanks Jayhawk. You convinced me to buy two swords from forge direct! The golden dragon and the golden peony jians. That is if they come out with another 20% off sale. They mentioned another sale soon but not sure how much. Would be hard pressed if I had to choose. Love the golden dragon but the other is balanced more towards the application I need it for. However a POB farther forward has its applications as well.

I apologize for that statement. Your advice is more than I can offer. I'm looking to purchase the golden dragon jian and am being cautious.
