The Kaneie Guardian is my most favorite production katana, so you have the best one IMO Verity's older model Shinto is also really wonderful. Are you going to use the sword for actual cutting? What is your budget? Yes, don't send money to a foreign bank or you will be colluding LOL I see a few gendaito/shinsakuto swords in my nihonto searches for $4k or less. Haha! That's just my problem. The Guardian is the best, imho. So it's going to be hard to find something that beats it. My budget is $9000 but I have other toys I want to buy too. There's a certain DelTin I want, an Arms n Armor, a Kimber, a new dining room set for the wife, etc. Can't forget the wife lol. Getting something outside the US is a no go. Unfortunately. NEVER FORGET THE WIFE!!!!! If you want to continue with swords, this is the golden rule!

Nice set up. I gotta get me a display case. I'm on vacation til January 2nd. Plenty of time to drool. Verity or I can send you the link. Affordable and they really work well keeping dust and animal hair (we have a dog and a cat) out of the swords.

6. Cavalry Saber: I believe I got this from CAS Iberia years ago. Hey wait, is this what all those India sabres are knocking off? Lol I actually kinda like it, how does it feel? Was not great, not bad. It was what it was. Need to delete first page, besides the Atlantean, the moro, and the hand and a half sword, all others sold for $20 each at a yard sale by wife last fall.

LOVE the shape of this blade, very Nambokucho like. The bohi also make that look well.
You are a madman for doing the polishing, I am sure it's brutal, tough, slow work. I know your attention to detail can handle it though.
Love the fittings you have selected. This when done will look like a top flight tachi in period mounts. Will follow along!

No hurry, but as I add blades I am staying at 4 so one will have to go eventually.

No swords added in a while, nihonto hunting is annoying and takes time. Maybe next year. I have branched out into some tsuba that stand out to me for various reasons. No real method, just stuff I like. I added 2 rabbit tsuba as of late. Edo period made by the great Motoharu (at age 69). It's a stunning piece IMO: A Shoami School hare themed tsuba. It's very pretty in hand and has NBTHK Hozon papers: I have 2 mokume style tsuba on the way by Christmas (look up mokume tsuba, it's spectacular!) and I have a line on a 100% pure silver tsuba but I am still working on a deal for it. Swords? Hoping for a Norikatsu (Tokkatsu/Tokukatsu) masame katana to work out, or a Kunikane (masame hada again). If neither do I may wait till around March and get aggressive. Hope everyone is good and Merry Christmas!

Hopefully one of the following: 1. Soshu Tametsugu Katana 2. Yamato Hosho School Katana 3. Norikatsu Katana 4. Kunikane gen 1-3 Katana
Or nothing at all.

Best way I've found is to be in a darkish room with a lamp. Angle the blade so that the hamon "pops" out. ^^^^^^^^ Best way to do it. A full shot of an entire blade will be difficult to get without a large scanner like Aoi uses.

Verity is correct on my swords. As we are brothers in arms, he knows.
