Cool! Good luck with your endeavor! Cramped spaces are more than a pain in the butt, they're also dangerous. I wish I had the time, $, and experience to build a shop like the one you're building and use it properly.

Here's a vid of a "modern day" Japanese Samurai doing some pretty amazing feats with his katana, including cutting flying objects like a small plastic pellet fired from an air pistol

Great review Dave! The Type XVIa swords are my favorite Euros even though I've yet to own a single one. Your review will come in handy when I finally decide to buy one.

I have for sale here /thread/40985... brand new in box. I could go down to $270 including shipping in the CONUS. PM me if you're interested.

I often wondered as well, but relegated that thought to the back of my mind since he was so powerful in magic after all. I really like some of the designs shown so far, and since Jarith was A. skilled in magic (no real need for physical strength/stamina) and B. he's not a lumbering hulk, I think a rapier, colichemarde, or something similar to what Luna posted would be what I could see him wielding in times of great need.

PM BPogue (Blake) and he'll probably be able to answer your question about availability seeing as he's a CAS Iberia rep. Do a search for him on the Manufacturer and Vendors Talk section - you'll be able to find some of his posts there.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but how much experience do you have with swords? Do you plan on using this new one primarily in the backyard or dojo? If you're planning on using it in a dojo setting, you should talk to your sensei first and get his recommendation since many Iaido sensei (if not most of them) will not allow you to use a Chinese made sword. If on the other hand you're primarily going to use it in your back yard, what others have posted about the Hanwei models (and the one that shouldn't be mentioned - look them up at UBC) are great advice... another manufacturer to consider is the Kris Cutlery brand. Hope that helps.

I agree - BTILC is my fav Russel/Carpenter movie. And as for the sword, I also agree that since Lo Pan was such an ego-maniac, he would have used the gaudiest everything on it.
