Hi Everyone.
New show and tell. It's a new take on Anduril I've made for a client. He wanted a replica of the movie prop for a gift for his Brother, who loves it. The prop design was of no use to me, and he didn't have time to wait for my Bronze version via Jeffrey. So I had to design a stock removal sword which pressed the buttons of the prop, but which was Fable style and met my aesthetic taste and style.
Actually my original sketch had hilt furniture etched in an Art Deco style - You can see the Art Deco influence in the guard and pommel design If you look again.
But the client wanted to stick with more traditional Anduril lore. So it copped a personalised blade inscription in the Cirth style runes with the 7 stars, Sun (Anar) and Moon (Isil) (combined, Narsil). The inscription Elrond's Armorers added for Aragorn. And the good ol' White Tree of Gondor on the Pommel - Always a nice touch.
I wanted to one-up the prop by adding a bronze inset at the peak of the Ecusson as the Sun sigil. The prop just has a little round divot.
The blade is a nice historical style too (I'd call it a XIIa), rather than the obscure prop blades.
Full specs and images can be seen on my site. Though I'll give you a taste here.
I hope you enjoy the result, which can be seen here: www.fableblades.com/Anduril2014.html
Spec in brief:
Weight: 1680g (3lb 11oz)
Length Overall: 116cm (45.6")
Blade Length: 87.5cm (34.5")
Point of Balance: 6.5cm (2.6") from blade shoulder
The pommel's a bit heavy, adding to overall weight but pulling the POB back nicely.
