I have a question for the SBG community: the threaded tang and pommel on my AOV High Elvish King Sword are stripped - how should I go about fixing them? You can see some specs/pictures here: /post/574450/threadThe tang could be re-threaded using a slightly smaller die, but the threads in the cast bronze pommel are mostly gone, so I was thinking of drilling it all out and maybe soldering in a hex nut or maybe using a Heli-coil? Any recomendations?

Very good advice - one more thing I'd like to add is that if you do get an antique nihonto, please don't do any heavy cutting with it since it may damage the sword and decrease its historical importance. I have several Chinese katana I use for cutting, and although I have a Shinto katana with a modern tsuka, I only use it for Iaido practice.

Jussi made some excellent points. If you think you need more info, you might want to head on over to the Nihonto Mesaage Board www.militaria.co.za/nmb/ with your questions. Literally tons of information that should be useful to you. One thing though - some of the members can be abrasive, so make sure to read the pinned posts/introduce yourself as a new member there

Solid review. I agree that the Griptilian (and the min Griptilian) is a great EDC knife, however, I have reservations about the "plastic" scales. But, it is what it is, and truly is a workhorse of a knife. Thanks for the review!

^^ This! I HATE listening to the radio now because of the obnoxious "radio personalities" and the super long commercials that last longer than the songs.

The only thing I can think of in that range (actually, slightly higher) are Bugei katanas... you can specify the length of the sword to fit your needs. If I think of any others, I'll edit the post.

"Today's Tom Sawyer He gets high on you And the space he invades He gets by on you
No his mind is not for rent To any god or government Always hopeful, yet discontent He knows changes aren't permanent But change is
What you say about his company Is what you say about society Catch the witness, catch the wit Catch the spirit, catch the spit
The world is, the world is Love and life are deep Maybe as his eyes are wide
Exit the warrior Today's Tom Sawyer He gets high on you And the energy you trade He gets right on to the friction of the day"

Great stuff Isshogai... your book looks like a nice addition to my (or any) library. Keep us informed about when you're going to have a general release.

So your answer is basically no answer, but rather transferring blame to others who don't see things your way and call them names? Sounds like you're deflecting the question because you're just not willing to join the "debate" as you put it without looking at other forum member's point of view, which by the way, is the impetus behind true debate: stating a thesis and defending it against one or multiple opposing theses while maintaining civility and trying to find the "truth" in the discourse. As for my question about the legitimacy of your JSA training, it was intended as a way to shed light on the controversy you started... if your claims are indeed valid, why hide behind this feigned indignation/name calling? You could end all of the negativity in one stroke simply by naming your awarded rank, your affiliation with certified JSA instructors, etc.

I think the TiNi is the most durable coating right now, followed by DLC... Cerakote is also really durable. As for food safe, I couldn't answer that - your best bet is to call the companies and ask them yourself.

Rob, I hope you don't take offense at this, but I've noticed a similarity about your posts in which you seem to state an observation you've made and then let the post run with it, which sometimes makes forum members take sides over the validity of your assertions. This usually ends up with members who used to be friendly with each other now feeling some kind of negativity about each other instead. I'm hoping this isn't your intent. I remember a while back you posted about opening up your own dojo, using some extant forms/techniques from the styles you've mentioned having taken, but also adding your own ideas in the mix... can you please let us know the extent of your JSA training (school/lineage/years in it) so that we can take what you say without jumping to conclusions, and also if you did indeed open up a school/dojo? Thanks in advance.
