I usually ship smaller items Priority Mail, and haven't had any problems, that is, until today - dropped a small fixed rate box off last night at the local hub (24 hr drop off), showing as "prepaid shipping", but not as shipped out. I've shipped this way tons of times, but this is the 1st time I've had an issue.

What's worse is it looks like they have a vid of Paul (admin) doing a cutting vid using VA's sword for their POS ripoff.

Next up a charcoal/Coal forge out of a large brake drum. Been wanting to do one for years. I was making one from an old semi truck rim about 20 years ago, but then moved away to go to college - only got far enough to weld the holes closed before moving away. It was sold later as scrap metal since it was a pretty heavy rim. Wish I could have finished it. I was going to use a small squirrel cage blower with a variable switch on it, but never got that far.

Congrats on your project with Castle Keep... On a related note, a close friend and I had the opportunity to go to Glenfinnan back in 2000. Incredible adventure - we hiked/backpacked from Loch Shiel (by the base of the Glenfinnan Monument), heading to Loch Arkaig... unfortunately, the weather was acting *very* much like Scottish weather (windy/rainy), and so we ended up going back to our base camp at The Prince's House, where we spent some time drinking Scottish beer and single malt whiskey. Best. Time. Ever... want to go back, this time with my family, seeing as my 8 yr old daughter is a HUGE Harry Potter fan, and would love to ride The Jacobite Steam Train (AKA, the steam train to Hogwarts), which makes its way through Glenfinnan. Anyway, congrats again - looking forward to seeing your custom sword.

How the hell did you get an assisted opening folder in SA ? Exactly what I was thinking - aren't knife laws extremely restrictive, especially in the Victoria area?

So, I found out about this awesome company called Tie Tactical, based in Mesquite, TX. I had them make a custom kydex/tec-lok sheath for my Hinderer XM-18 3.5" Spearpoint. Check out the pics below and especially the attached vid - AWESOME imho. Can't wait to get it!

I reposted this story on a FB page I visit and included the links to the Victoria PD PDF file, referencing the page where it states plastic knives are illegal, and some people were still calling me a troll - most weren't though. Oh well, I guess you can't please most of the people even some of the time.

yep, it's real "Q: Can I sell any kind of knife to someone under 18? What about kitchen knives or a plastic knife? A: It’s an offence for anyone under 18 to buy any kind of knife, or any other controlled weapon. This includes kitchen knives, bread and butter knives, box cutters and even plastic knives. If a child needs a knife for a legitimate reason, such as for work, they will need to get their parent or guardian to purchase the knives for them. There are no exceptions. If you or one of your staff knowingly sell a knife or other controlled weapon to a child, you or your staff member can face a fine of up to $2,389." www.police.vic.gov.au/retrievemedia.asp?media_id=58120&status=active

to be fair, Arnold had to stop doing major exercise/body building after he blew out his heart valve and had to get a replacement years ago

Ok, I know Aussie is strict about knives, but is this real? Seems too nutty to be real.

Who else remembers gun racks in their (or their relative's) pickup trucks? I remember seeing them everywhere, and leaving the windows down/doors unlocked. That was back in the 70's & 80's here in Deep South Texas.

Fallen, I remember practically everyone carrying a Buck 110 on their belts way back in the day except for school around these parts - only saw one kid use a knife on another kid (pen knife) when I was in 7th grade. Other than that and the other case I mentioned where he boy killed the girl, this is very uncommon fighting at the school I teach in. Sure, kids get into fist fights (gangs around here), but no drive by's or stabbings on a regular basis at any of the 3 high schools in the district I work at. This was an isolated incident, and because of that, all the kids are still talking about it/spreading rumors like crazy. Hard to separate the truth from facts at this point, especially when it comes to kids talkin about it.

the kid who allegedly did this has potentially ruined his life if found guilty. Hell, kids were posting rude tweets/snapchats, etc. about him/the incident all day. He'll be forever known as the kid who stabbed someone at school. Aside from him, he could have ruined another kid's life as well if he had gone for other vulnerable parts of the body. To me, this seems accidental, even if the kid took a knife to school. Stupid, yes - but an intent to severely hurt someone else, most probably not. But, Like I mentioned, I want to wait and see all info before passing judgment. This reminds me of another stabbing incident at another high school around here. A few years back when I was working in a diferrent district, a school sponsor left the kids unsupervised after the bus dropped them back off at a sister school to mine - one of the kids had apparently been bullied on the school trip and totally wigged out when most of the kids had been picked up/left on their own, killing a girl who was waiting for her parents. Laws were changed after that... sponsors now have to remain and supervise that ALL kids get picked up by parents before being able to go home themselves unless the kids are old enough to drive themselves and have signed a waiver stating they're on their own.

The campus where I've been teaching for the past 8 years (14 years total) was placed in lockdown this morning - one student allegedly stabbed another student, who got a 1 inch laceration in the leg. The alleged attacker turned himself in to authorities after running away from the classroom where it took place, and confessed to the incident - he was arrested minutes after the incident. Both boys involved are 18 years old (seniors), and are being treated as adults. The one who allegedly stabbed the other boy has been charged with 2nd degree felony assault with a deadly weapon, and has had a $50,000 bond set for him. I'm awaiting all information to be released before laying any kind of judgement, seeing as I don't know either of the boys. The following link is rather sensationalistic, but has more info than other local news stations: www.valleycentral.com/news/story.aspx?id=1207765

Something to consider are municipality laws: there are some cities in TX that have CRAZY knife laws that prohibit what would be legal almost anywhere else in the state
