She's not petty but she gets the job done.
Here's the 20lb propane tank I started with, drilled holes use a angle grinder with a cut off wheel to cut out the front opening
Cut the back slide through post with an angle grinder too. Here's the burner holder welded in, used a hole and electric drill the cut the hole for it. Could have used to conduited nuts to put the burner holder in that way there would be no welding to the forge. The base is just strapping metal hole drilled into the sides of the tank strapping metal bolted on. Again no welding The inswool has been put in and a coat of ridgedizer bushed on. Refactory cement floor laid in. Forgot to show the reflective coating after it was brushed on. Made my own Reil forge burner to heat it with. Here it is fired up.

Just wanted to show you can build a forge without a welder. Chenessfan I said something about you welds and these are worst. In my defense I was welding very then metal with a arc welder. I do need to show more steps just keep forgetting to take the pictures.
You can build this forge for under $200.00. It dosesn't have to have the refactory cement floor I just put one in because I might forge weld in it, and it last longer.
One of these days I will show how a Reil's type burner is made. At least the way I do it.

Next up a charcoal/Coal forge out of a large brake drum. Been wanting to do one for years. I was making one from an old semi truck rim about 20 years ago, but then moved away to go to college - only got far enough to weld the holes closed before moving away. It was sold later as scrap metal since it was a pretty heavy rim. Wish I could have finished it. I was going to use a small squirrel cage blower with a variable switch on it, but never got that far.

Next up a charcoal/Coal forge out of a large brake drum. Been wanting to do one for years. good luck with that one, i stared out on one of these, they suck for anything longer than a knife, and you have to keep trying to work ways of fitting stock in to the hot part, better option is get a firepot from centaur forge or the like and build a table top set up makes life way easier and you can work longer stock

Hey L Driggers, have you done a lot of forging with coal? A lot of the guys in my local blacksmith group do lot of forging with coal. I've never really had the desire to try it myself. I think I'm spoiled on the ease of propane forge work.

Ever have forged with coal or charcoal, don't plan on using it over propane. Just another tool in my in my tool kit. Have plenty of wood around here I can trun into charcoal. You only forge a few inches at a time gas or charcoal. The drum I will using is 15in dia.(IF tis dum doesn't work out right I will use the deeper drum off the back of the bus.
It will be faily easy to buid. I will also make a charcoal retort to make my on charcoal. Make the system where will work with a power blower or a hand crank one. Someting if I don't have power I can keep going. I can even use a part of a old hot water tank the build the chimmie
Also I am just having fun building forges right now. Plan on building a ribbon burner forge out of anther 20 propane tank, or a freon tank.
It's fun to build you own tool, stil need to get busy on the spare tire power hammer to. So buy more so I can.
I also want to build a long forge out of a old air compressper tank I have is appose 26in long.

Putting the finishing touches on a metal melting furunce. Pouring the refactory comcrete this morning. This one it made of of two coffee cans. It will be fired by a propane burner I made.

The thing is most people can't afford a firepot. So I'm going to show away to make one fairly cheap. You can only forge a few inches at a time anyways. You've seen where I forged a 26in blade sword using a propane forge that only has a 10in long by 3in diameter inside chamber.

Sorry don't build them for resale. It is easy to build one yourself and doesn't take very long to do. You can get most of what you need from Wayne Coe. The rest from Home Depot or Lowes.
