Its like watching our cutting vids with more ballistics gel and David Wehnam narrating it there should of been more water bottles Thats pretty much how I see it at this point... it's basicly like watching cutting vids of interesting weapons... except on more expensive and awesome targets. Although. I have seen better displays of skill from some of our forum members then I have seen from their 'experts'.

Most of the experts seemed to at least have a handle on what they were talking about (Although how one becomes an expert in Yakuza fighting techniques I dont really get)

I just thought to mention, the most important failure of Deadliest Warrior is they don't run identical tests with the weapons they are comparing.
I'm watching the Maori Warrior vs the Shaolin monk right now, and they had the shaolin demonstrator do a showy bit breaking clay pots and they had the Maori spear wielded against both an impact sensor and a spine of, I think, a cow.
No way to tell how deadly the staff truly is if you don't see how much force it can impart on a body.

Most of the experts seemed to at least have a handle on what they were talking about (Although how one becomes an expert in Yakuza fighting techniques I dont really get) I was perticularly unimpressed with the guy using the Katana in the Samurai vs Viking episode. It looked, to me, as tho he was just powering his way threw the cuts, with very little thought to technique. I have seen better cutting from several forum members here. Likewise with some of the sword use from the Knight and Pirate experts... I have not seen forum members test on the same target medium, a pig, but I have seen forum members who looked more comfortable and skilled with Cutlass and Broadsword style weapons then those folks did. I'm not wow'ed by their 'experts' in the least.

The more I watch this show the more bogus I see it to be. Comparing close range weapons the baseball bat vs nunchaku was ridiculous. They gave the edge to the baseball bat for it's one strike to the skull after the nunchaku had already shattered it. Having engaged in the practice of practical nunchaku offense and defense for over 30 years, as well as having chased a couple of threatening idiots of my property with a baseball bat, I feel I can safely say that as the much heavier and two-hand-wielded bat is swung, a martial artist adept with the nunchaku would slap you silly with the business end of it. There is no comparison. THEN they give the edge to a shotgun over a Walther P38, when the range of the pistol is at least 4 times greater than the shotgun. Stand 2 guys at opposite ends of a street with a pistol and a shotgun and let them start shooting ( the comparison was not made using big game load like SSG, 00Buck or slugs in the shotgun ). See who walk away. Oh well. I guess it's just television. The show is entertaining but tough to take seriously.

Ok, the William Wallace vs. Shaka Zulu thing kinda ticked me off. I mean, WTF? A 15th C sword and targe right off the bat. Oh the humanity...

Apparently, my knowledge of William Wallace is insufficient to understand your scorn here. No great feat, of course, I am not that knowledgeable of that period of English history at all... @lork, Spetsnaz beat the Green Berets. You can check my posts on the previous page for my explanation of why they got it so horribly wrong...

Well, Wallace Pre-dates the Claymore... which was used in the episode... as for the Targe, I confess, I dunno anything about it.

Well, Wallace is supposed to have used a sword approximately 6 feet in length, right? The claymore isn't too far off the mark, is it? Is there something about the construction of the swords of Wallace's time that was significantly different from the claymore?
Anyway, as for the results of the matchup, I wasn't surprised. It was the same as ninja vs Spartan. 1 Big, Tough, slower combatant, implacable. The other, smaller, faster, and doing fancy moves. The bigger guy just bides his time till the smaller guy jumps and impales himself.

Speaking of which, did anyone recognize the claymore they used? It seemed well balanced when they were swinging it and cut that meat pretty well too.

Hello all, I like the show. Even if the fight sequence might not come out the way I figure it would, I enjoy it also because I get into checking out the various garb and weapons from the various eras. FB

Will they show Halsey vs. Yamamoto? ;D No. The show's over. They decided to end with Al Qaeda vs the Irish terrorists. I can't think of the name of the group right now. Anyway, I think they decided that there were too many people ripping the show the way we are and decided to quit while they were still sort of ahead.

That was so amazingly stupid, even for these guys.

They should've done re-enactments using other historical figures, like maybe Genghis Khan against Richard the Lionheart or heh, Leonidas against Xerxes lol
I'm surprised you guys were still watching that drivel.
