Okay I saw the pirate vs knight finally...and I call BS on the computer program. We saw that grenade like object get completely nullified by armor in their test...and yet it racked up almost 200 kills?!? Oh I loved the part in the end fight where the knight is coming downhill and you can hear the pirate sigh bloody hell. That little part was pure gold . The rest was unfortunately a steaming pile of refuse.

my other biggest problem besides that idiotic grenado was how they said the swords were equal... broadsword chops pig in half... cutlass slices maybe halfway through... nevermind that that lil piggy left his armor at home

Ultimately the swords are pretty well even; one just happened to be swung at a swinging pig a little better.
I can't recall any "broadswords" cutting armor, either. Seem to recall the trick is to find the openings and stab 'em.
Either way, I'm of mixed mind on the grenado. The shrapnel would be mostly stopped by good armor, but that concussion would be brutal.
What bothered me was that the Pirate seems to have found a loaded pistol laying on the beach. I recall he had two in the beginning, fired both, and discarded them, then suddenly finds a third and shoots the knight in the face. After getting whacked with a spiked mace a few times, mind.
I probably won't be watching any more of this.

i agree teh swords are pretty well even... but in that particular case i feel the edge went to the knight on account that a cutlass against plate armor won't be doing much

Eh, I won't get into the argument of what any one sword type can do versus any sort of armor...but suffice to say it doesn't really matter at this point.

Well the grenado might have some concussive force, it´s not enough for an outright kill. Knockdown...yes. Disorientation, definitely...but not enough to outright kill. If it had that much concussive force, the pig under the plate would be tenderized...which it wasn´t. The grenado leading to a kill doesn´t get the kill, it has to be the weapon to actually deliver the killing blow...hence why the black eggs got zero kills. The simulation gave 200 direct kills to a weapon nullified in the tests by the armor...I call BS on the computer program at this point.

The entire thing with the computer has been ticking me off since the second episode. Well you know, it's not even really the computer program's fault, it's that jerk Max Geiger who fails to put in accurate information. Or maybe it's the utter disregard for text results. Katana can't cute ringmail? Oh well! Samurai won't be carrying a katana, kanabo, bow, and giant spear-thing all at the same time? Oh well, now he will! Viking has a shield? Well, we won't worry about that and put the data in properly... Very much ticked off my Norse blood. And by ticked, I mean that in the strongest possible sense of the present tense. (Frickin' pansy nancy-boy samurai...)

Ugh I hate you all (kidding). Hearing so much about this friggen show on this forum lead me to catch a couple of the reruns yesterday. What a flippin train wreck of a show. I feel insulted by the apache vs gladiator episode with what I know about my own ancestry. As for the other episodes WTF, the viking spear should have been compared to the naginata not the bow as that would be a better match. The vikings also had bows, ya know. And the list goes on but I would be getting way too nitpicky if I listed everything I wanted to.
Where do they get these "experts" as I'm not sure that's the proper term for them, and I ain't too sure about that Doc either, he look a bit your to have extensive trauma experience. I currently work in a hospital and most of our trauma Docs tend to be in their late 40's early 50's so they can bring more experience to the table. But that's just my opinion. Personally, I'll stick to my Ancient Discoveries on the History channel.

All he ever does is go up to the ballistics dummy with it's head smashed open and say, "Yeah, this definitely killed him."

Yeah, I don't think it takes a medical degree to realize a skull chopped in half is a fatal wound.

I have to agree on the Pirate vs Knight. They demonstrated that the Grenado and the Flintlock were completely ineffective against the armour, they never tested the cutlass vs the armour and they let the pirate in the simulation absorb 2 hits from the morningstar and still win.
The only question in that fight when they showed the pistol and grenado were useless against the knight's armour was whether or not the blunderbuss could pierce the shield Plus the armour -- the knight may be honour-bound but he's not stupid. That's the only edge the pirate actually had. And they never tested it.

oh, and btw, it doesn't really take all that much age to have a lot of experience in any kind of trauma. Especially when you're dealing with weaponry trauma. Army medics and doctors get all sorts of experience very quickly.
That said, this guy has no military training OR experience. It would show in his words and his stance and the cadence of his phrasing when explaining the damage done.

ok. I have to say I love the show... even though it is rediculous, historically inacurate, and full of garbage science. I can't help loving the hillarity of the whole premise. also I don't think the reenactment at the end is suposed to represent the definative fight, but just be a theatrical representation of the overall conclusion of the stupid computer outcome.
that being said all opinions of the show are still valid but you shouldn't judge it as some kind of educational documentary.

that being said all opinions of the show are still valid but you shouldn't judge it as some kind of educational documentary. Then they should make it more purposely stupid, spreading lies and mocking history is ridiculous. The sad thing is, I'm sure there's probably a ton of people who actually take this stuff for fact.

LOL darwin is my gospel somedays with the morons I meet. I was rewatching Viking vs Samurai and the samurai descendant guy was talking about the katana and the "beautifull diamond hard edge" it had ............. I'm sorry .......... diamond hard ........... So I should be using at katana as an industrial penetration tool then ........... he doesnt seem to "descendant" to me .......... Its like the ninja experts werent even black belts, one was a freaken voice actor for christs sake, I'm a bit more aggravated about the "experts" not really being genuine ........ stretching the truth I can handle ....... I dont appreciate being #$@!ing lied to.

its a television show you wanna be educated watch the discovery channel i for one watch it and take it as not as fact not as fiction but just take what their saying into account with the information they provide and form my own opinion and to be honest the deadliest warriors are the warriors who win battles without fighting.
