Odingaard- you're a lucky guy if your wife is cool with THAT. Seeing as THAT is what I can expect, I already know I can't go- and it isn't because of me, my wife seems to think women can't keep their hands off me.
I don't know where she gets that. Anyway, OG...pinch a few for me, willya?

Let me offer inspiration for those confused about attending. Only at Dragon*Con will you see sights such as this... ;D Well...........actually......................I've had a couple of photo shoots................................. But of course, they were not in public places. Anyone recognize the knife? I borrowed it from a photographer friend, but do not know the maker.

Looks like the official LotR Strider knife, I think United Cutlery made it. Long Live Barbarian women. I took my wife to a RenFaire in NorCal... her first one, some years ago. Out there... costume participation is very high... like 80% of the people at the Faire are dressed up. Out here in Georgia and North Carolina, its more like 50%, maybe even less, which bums me out. Anyway... At that RenFaire there was a group of about 5-6 people all dressed up like hard core Barbarians. One of em, while not Conan size, was pretty damn close... the guy was huge. Another was this tiny, sexy as all hell girl, waring VERY little... little pieces of leather and fur... and she was 'in character' the whole time... crouching around.. stalking people... climbing up trees and growing at people that got close. I was inappropriately interested... but alas, with the wife there, I had to be subtle about it and avert my gaze. ;D

One group of Spartans (there were like 3-4 groups) at the Con last year were actually buffer than the guys in the 300 film. Perfect costumes, helms, shields, swords, cloaks, spears and all, down the the leather Speedos. Needless to say, they were covered in sh*tloads of hot women.
The wonderful thing about the Con is that you can always change your location to another hotel... ;D

I do believe that Odingaard is definitely the bad influence of the group! Look at him working at our resolve with these pictures of scantily clad, well proportioned women.
Mr. Gear, who is that woman brandishing the elven knife of Strider? She looks like a pissed off Tinkerbell!

Dragon*Con is over . Here is the update: Clicky below...everything is work safe, I did not post anything too over the top, but you will get the point! And, something else for your viewing pleasure. My son (it was his first Dragoncon - he is 16) and I did some longsword play with training blunts in the International Mall in downtown Atlanta for a small group of spectators. He's been taking longsword for about a month and I wanted to see if he retained anything. He is wearing the plate and I am wearing the black sword leather. Enjoy! Oh, BTW, my pick for the best costume was the below steampunk version of Xavier from X-Men. Everything on the chair was operational and the craftsmanship was exceptional. The picture does not do the costume justice really, because there was so much detail in the wheelchair itself, including the locomotive system driving the chair wheels that looked exactly like a train. In the photo is Gambit, but all of the other X-Men were present as well (in steampunk form). Unfortunately, I was not able to get them all in one shot, but they were the showstoppers this year.

Odingaard, you reminded me of a DĂșnadan ranger. Your son is going to grow into a strong man. He is already big for his age.

He did play his freshman year in high school, but ended up not really caring for it. He did not sign up for it this last year. He is very interested in WMA and is starting a workout / diet program to bulk up and get a little more lean this coming year.

Not too many kids forgo football for sword training... methinks Dad's influence may be felt.

Aragorn was an old man in LOTR, but he didn't look like it. Maybe some of you men really are Dunedain.
