I like dorky conventions tho...you see some really inventive stuff. So this is in Atlanta...maybe I can plan for it next year.
Odingaard, you go in armor?

Over the years, I have went in a few different outfits/harnesses. More often than not, I wear a medieval period style harness or fantasy inspired armor. However, I've been to known to also wear Jedi robes, an Imperial officer uniform, Battlestar Galactica fatigues, a Punisher outfit, late Roman armor, or even a full unicorn outfit (ie - Charlie the Unicorn). As the weekend passes, I typically change what I am wearing a few times so I can do something different daily. Wearing armor from 8-10am until 4am very seldom works out very well, so you have to be flexible - at least bring your armor and a 'soft kit' (tunic, belt, cotehardie...etc) so that you can be comfortable. One of the biggest issues is having good boots. If you don't have good boots/shoes, you will end up with blistered feet on day one. It's best to not only have good footwear with comfortable insoles - but pack along some moleskin just in case. I have a number of friends that have never attended a Dragon*Con before. Once they went, they were addicts (and for good reason). If you think that the Con is a dorky convention, that's fine - but you would be pretty far from the truth. In reality, its all the drinking, partying, fighting, deviance, and debauchary that goes on behind the scenes that really gets people hooked on Dragon*Con. If you wait until next year, then when you finally do go - you will regret that you did not go in years prior. It's far worth the cost of a sword or two to go. It's something not to be missed. I am trying to figure out a way to create a private photo album to link you guys to in the meantime to show you what I am talking about. I just don't want to offend any of my special Con friends in the process - if you know what I mean...LOL.

I wish I could go, but alas that I cannot. Soon, my young Padawan apprentice. Very soon, you will be ready to take the Dragon*Con Trials... ;D

Depends on what type of fights you seek, but you can probably find them all. Dragon*Con is like Bangkok - you can find whatever you are seeking - if you look hard enough or have enough cash. Of course, this is moot unless you attend. You do not know what you have been missing. ;D

Yes, post the photographs! Especially of the women that you have given so much praise to.

I dunno Odingaard... I don't drink... and I am a married man, so what you are describing as the best parts of the con are pretty much not interesting to me.

There are people dressed as iron man, master chief, spartans, and your good old knights and vikings. That alone would be worth it, lol.

Whoa. I had you pegged for an ale man...not sure why, though. Just seemed right. But on the marriage tip, I feel you, I am too- but I'm not dead. I'm still able to appreciate the female form...as my wife says, I can look at the menu but I'm not orderin a damn thing. LOL

Heh... This may be true, but I prefer not to sniff the scent of pizza when I can't eat it. Or, to put it another way... I don't invite trouble. I like my balls intact and whole. ;D

I remember during my second marriage, my wife was the pretty jealous sort. Her and I did not see eye to eye on many things. I used to tell her, "Don't take a fat man to the buffet and expect him not to eat!"
Hence, I am now on my third marriage! ;D
And yes...Dragon*Con '97 was worth it!

I can't walk around with blinders...that's how you run into things and situations you probably should not. And its fun to check out honeys...its not like I'm out with the wife and goin DAMNNN, she is FINE!
But I might be thinkin it. lol
It doesn't make a difference, I'm not the cheating type, I have no such compunctions...but I like the female form and am an ardent appraiser, of sorts.
