Hey Ronin,
Beat 1 to the 10th power! lol
Seriously, I got 6 actual "onion rings" and 10 chips and bits from one 1 gallon milk jug. Haven't done yet again lately (as there's 6" of snow on the ground and temperatures are hovering around 10 degrees F.)
Maybe when I can go outside and not have my genitals threaten to shrink back inside my body cavity I'll try it again.

What is the difference between pickle chips and onion rings? (in this context, smart guys! ) Pickle chips would be just chips off of the milk jug, while onion rings would be a whole continous ring...

Hear you go ... ran out and cut one up real quick... Thats 9 onion rings and 3 chips... would have been 10 rings but the cut was a bit thin in middle leading to two chips instead of one ring...

Hahaha, thanks Marc. I get it; that is what I suspected.
I like this as a measure of one's cutting prowess. Methinks it should be made an ongoing competition somewhere on our forum; to see who can get the most of either/each! No prizes, necessarily...just the honor of being the forum record holder (until someone else comes anong and beats it!)
I'll work on it and see what I can do.

Not comfortable cuttin' 'em thinner than that yet. I'll get there. ;D

Thanks...it's my everyday cutter...cuts better than anything production I've ever had...even the three of the same model... geometry is bangin'... only the Oni Forge Tonbo comes close,,, this sword sales through soft targets like they aren't there...empty half liters don't stand a chance... My girl likes to drink Dansani water.. but the bottles are real thin and crappy... reall bad for cutting... not enough outward pressure, if you know what I mean.. they tend to collapse rather than cut... The Ryu slices em clean... I love it... Nothing cuts mats and bamboo like my Raw though...

Cool. I think such a challenge should have some semblance of structure to it.
For example: Cuts must all be caught on video; uncut, pickles must be at least a certain size, onion ring count [does/does not?] include the top and bottom pieces, etc. Cuts must be performed on a determined standardized size/weight bottle (i.e. 1 gallon plastic milk jug.), etc.
Maybe even a scoring system if both chips and rings happen to be cut from the same bottle (i.e. Onoin rings are 5 points, Picke chips are 2 [3?, whatever]....
just some ideas. Will start a new thread shortly...

this sounds like great fun. I was going to offer to host the video with the current highest score in the coolest cuts gallery but if we're gonna run it in its own thread then I'll let it stand alone, unless you all want it in the coolest gallery. I could always link to the contest thread from the gallery just because it IS cool. what do you all think.
on scoring I think only rings and chips that come from above the cut should get counted. thus the bottom of the jug will never count. and (obviously) scoring ends when the target falls off the stand.

I think it would be great to watch all these vids slavia, but we do have some folks here who do not have video cameras or will not put themselves on tape. This might be a good opportunity to include everyone and since there are no "prizes" (other than glory ) pictures like the ones above could be accepted on the honor system? Just a thought...
