Yeah the screws bothered me too, the handles are almost 19 inches, but they leave an inch of excess at the top of them that isn't really needed so you can cut it off without risking the blades flying off. How often do you split your handles in half by hitting one axe with another in a throw? I splintered off a piece of one handle and nearly split the other in half with an off throw. Instead of cutting the end off, try sanding it down so the axe slides up further. Remember you can choke up as much as you wish, but choking down is limited. as far as splitting handles, its funny you should ask. In some competitions you cant retrieve your axe untill everyone has thrown. sometimes as many as 5. I have split alot of handles just to knock others out. I'll elaborate on this in my next video, but in these competitions its a legal throw. I myself havent split my own handle in a few years. Thanks for jinxing me. ;D Try to throw at opposite end of the target to protect yor handles.

lol I look forward to the next video then. I'll have to find some better materials for a target, right now I've got 3 2x4s nailed together leaned up against a concrete wall so I'm scared of missing ;D I might not even be able to get another target until January, there's not much room for throwing around here but come January we're moving into my grandma's old house, she had a nice big yard, a field etc. plenty of room for my archery and throwing.

thats awesome. Its hard to throw when you know you cant miss. Once youre in a place where its safe to miss, the only pressure is what you put on yourself. As for the vid, I hope to do it the second week in november...... I hope.

Yeah, I've come pretty close a few times to hitting it, I don't really think it would damage them very bad though, they've fallen onto the concrete floor several times with only damage to the handles.

LOL, If everything goes as planned, we will shoot two videos this weekend. One for the backwards throw, and one on how to sharpen an axe and adjust the handle. So lets cross our fingers that it doesn't rain or something. ;D

Well, it didnt rain, but murphys law still rules. Our camera went down, and didn't come back up till dark. I hope to shoot tomorrow, if everything goes well. If not just mail me rocks and I'll hurl them at myself. ;D ;D

well we got it shot today. Its not going to be as good quality as the the last one(different camera), but I hope its good enough. I cant edit it tonight because my laptop doesnt have a firewire connection. but my extraordinary cameraman slash best friend will load it tomorrow and send it to me to edit. Long story short(too late) I should have it to you guys by tomorrow night. By the way I havent forgot my promise to a sharpening video.

wish I get better at axe throwing so I show my friends when we visit heberhatchets.com/ again. I don't intend to seem rude, but the two posts you've made make you seem like either an ad-bot, or a human vendor shilling a service. If your are the latter, there is a section on these forums for vendors to advertise their wares and services. Link
