So I received my Lake Neuenburg Sword, and finally got around to giving it a good look over. 3. The sword is over weight! Kult lists it at 2 lbs 0.8 oz. My digital scale (calibrated and tested) shows it at 3 lbs 1 oz. This is significant. The sword still handles well due to the nice POB, but it's 50% heavier than expected so handles differently than expected.
The Hurum Viking Sword I bought from KoA was listed as 3lb 1oz. After a KoA sharpening and sent to me it weighed almost 3lb 9oz or so. It is a big crowbar of a sword. A lot of forward weight that makes it far more unwieldy of any Viking sword I have handled.

I replied to g2knee in another thread that the Comte came in on spec. At least the weight did. I didn't break out the calipers or measuring tape for the rest, but KoA was dead on for the correct weight.

Ordered mine about 2 weeks ago and it has yet to ship lol You and me both. Twelves days. It hasn't even started to ship. No sharpening service was requested. I thought coming back from the Highland Games festival it would either be at my door, or at least have started to ship.

So I received my Lake Neuenburg Sword, and finally got around to giving it a good look over. Overall, it's a cool sword. It looks great at arms length, and handles well despite it's weight (See point #3). But there are a few qualms I have that add up to a poor impression. 1. There is a slight twist in the blade. It is minor, but it is still there, which stinks. 2. There is a little gap where the blade meets the guard. They cleverly put a piece of felt to act as a chappe here, which hides it, but knowing it's there bothers me. Any one of these imperfections alone wouldn't bother me too much, but the collection of them makes me think this will be a return. IMPORTANT NOTE: Please don't assume that my particular sword is representative of this model as a whole. I may have just gotten a "special" one. Sample size of 1.
I can almost recommend this sword. Minor twists can be corrected. Kult's page can be updated with the correct weight. The gap by the guard could be a fluke....but as it is, I cannot recommend this sword at this time. I can only report based on my experience.
Jash -- I hesitate to put this on your "gems" thread because I do not consider it a gem. If you'd like me to post the feedback there anyways, please let me know! Thanks for the thoughts g2! I was going to say with so many issues and you not 100% happy (for the price) - i wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it to a beginner. That being said, let's hope this is a one off... but we all know one of Deepeeka's main areas of improvement is a consistent quality control. I see you already posted in the "Gems" thread - all good! Half of knowing what's good is knowing what to be cautious of.

Glad to be of service Cerberus.
It's a good one. I don't think these will last. I believe people will be looking for these 2nd hand years from now. Not because they're GREAT - they're not great, they can't compare to an Albion. Rather because they're good, very good, and they're the whole package, but so cheap that even a college student could afford one. Kind of like a Windlass Arbedo, which is long out of production, but people are still looking for them.
I won't be selling this one.

I have many of these ''new'' viking and migrations swords.
You can look at the images I took of every sword...

I bought a Danelagh half a year ago. Such a poorly made sword. Asymmetrical in many ways. Pommel was offset to one side and twisted off axis. Guard was offset to the other side. The handle just looked like a reflection in a carnival Fun House mirror. The blade was a bit wavy looking with the fuller being poorly done. But... the scabbard fit my Albion Jarl pretty good, so I don't feel too bad giving the sword away for free.

I bought Deepeeka's Moon brand arming sword, [ Del Tin's is way too costly.}, and they got it very close to the original, looked great but too many problems. Deepeeka breaks my heart because they carry so many different swords and daggers and if they can just get the quality up a little more, and, we would all understand that the cost would have to go up because of that, they would be selling to many more of us.
I have a great Deepeeka medieval dagger, can be broken down and they really got it right, nicely sharpened, very well polished blade with a nice straight grind, seems to be great steel, nicely done guard and pommel of steel with a wood core grip wrapped in leather. The sheath is also right, wood wrapped in decent leather. Very well done and a keeper -Going through KoA, I'll see a great looking sword and hesitate when I see who made it. So, I am very pleased to hear the quality is getting better, that's a good thing.
