Alien nailed it.
All my swords are budget models. I'll rank the best ones, IMO.
1) Balaur Arms 15th Century Italian two-hander 2) Balaur Arms 15th Century Arming sword 3) Kingston Arms Atrim-designed type XIV 4) Windlass Arbedo bastard
Like Legault I have a Deepeeka Comte on order, which I am excited about. A very similar model (that should be available soon) is the Deepeeka Aislinn. Definitely worth a look. I can say that from experience, as I own a Deepeeka Aislinn prototype, which was sold before the main production line was released.
These "new and improved" Deepeeka really are new and improved. They're cheap as hell, but surprising quality.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm excited about the new Deepeeka swords, after doing a polishing job on my Hanwei-Tinker Early Medieval Sword I've been looking for other "project swords" that I can practice sharpening and customizing and these Deepeeka swords seem great for that.

I agree. There's no way to lose. Some of these are retailing under $150 new with wood-core scabbard, and some include integrated belts. All of 'em are coming in under $200. There's no way to lose.
If you don't like it, or mess it up with a bad sharpening job - so what. Just dump it on a used board and get most (or even all?) of your $$ back. Someone will want it, especially when it looks pretty and is real forged/tempered carbon steel.
I know they're not Albion's, but I'm stoked about this new line. They're going in the right direction.

I'm thinking of picking up the Militia Templi Sword and it's matching dagger. The KoA stats say it starts at 4.4 mm and tapers to 3 mm, 2 lbs 6 oz, POB 3 1/4", so those stats don't look too bad.

If you do, report what you find the stats to be. The one I got from KoA was way off. Probably more to do with Deepeeka's quality control than anything.

Did you get that sword, or a different Deepeeka?

Did you get that sword, or a different Deepeeka? No sorry, different sword. I am just curious if the stats at KoA and what you get are similar or off like mine. Just in general.

Gotcha. Haven't made up my mind yet, but if I do get them, I'll definitely do a review and post the stats.

Well if you do get them, don't hold your breath. I ordered that Comte nine days ago - vanilla, no sharpening.
It hasn't even shipped yet.

I really hope their new owner gets things back up to speed, but it feels to me like an end of a era for KoA...

In fairness he did say 3 people where down with COVID in the warehouse, but that they've recovered and are back now. In addition to the new-hires. They should catch up that backlog.
I do agree, though, that it feels like the end of an era. That new website really stinks. I long for the old one.

I ordered a belt, a simple belt, and it took them 5 weeks to drop in a bag and ship.

Also tired of clicking swords with "check options" and its just plain out of stock

It's poor design. It's foolish to kick off a SQL statement to a database every time someone clicks on a check box. For example:
SELECT BRANDS FROM LIST OF MANUFACTURERS -------------------- 36 brand checkboxes to turn off or on
In my use case, I want to select 14 brands. I select the first one. It refreshes by querying the database. I select a second one. It refreshes by sending a query to the database.
It should not send the SQL to the database until I click SUBMIT, after I select all 14 of my brands. Instead, their design "refreshes" by querying the database each time a box is selected or unselected.
Unnecessary work for the database. Unnecessary slowness for the user. Poor design.

Yes, their filter design is pretty dreadful. Without going into technical details, it seems to me like they should be able to filter the search results without querying the database.
Also, they should have an "advanced search" or filter option where you can select multiple filters before applying them.

If things were listed with some orderly fashion in mind it would help. Once one finds the Manufacturer’s category for instance for swords there are 51 names to chose from thrown into the heap in no fashion. It would speed things up if only in alphabetical order. At least they’ve changed the view allowing me to see three items at once rather than the two originally but still like looking through a peephole.

Agree. Never submit a query until a query is finished being built. Otherwise, as in this case, the DB is just spinning on useless unfinished queries. Result = CPU, memory, & network chewed up for nothing.
For an example, here's a recent occurrence I saw where I work. At work, I have a multi-billion row database table. A web server queries that table all the time. It's a BIG table.
EXAMPLE WORK TO DO - gimme a distinct list of all the counties in a particular state, from that big table. Including mis-spellings, mixed case, typo's, periods, spaces, errors, etc. Should be a pretty small list, a few hundred tops. But also assume no indexes exist on the big table.
One way to do it - #1 - full table scan the entire table - perform unique hash to filter out duplicates - return results
Another way to do it - #2 - full table scan the entire table - perform a sort unique to filter out duplicates - return results
#1 and #2 both return the same results. They both get the job done. But #2 is a TON more work, much less efficient. Why sort all those billions of records, when one doesn't have to? It just chews up resources for no good reason. In my real-life work example, method #1 would take a few seconds to finish. Method #2 would run for days without finishing.
We found our database kernel did its work literally as listed above, depending on whether case sensitivity was turned on or off. We had to contact our database vendor, and have them write a custom kernel to avoid scenario #2. I won't mention who that vendor is. But they're very, very big. You've heard of them, even if you know nothing about databases.
Point is - do the minimum work required, efficiently. Don't do wasted work.

Yeah, as far as brands go I miss being to hover over a lists and going directly to their page, now first I gotta load page with everything on it and then scroll all the way down to find what I want. Organizing swords became more complicated too.

The Aislinn is finally available on KoA. AISLINN$201. I believe they have an error in the listing though. They offer a charge $30 for sharpening, vs a charge of $30 for factory edge. Contacted them about it, they said they'd fix the listing asap.
