As do you, Good Sir Bro' Nath'. Ms. Cerulean Herself could hardly gainsay this affordable excursion into bladed wonder.

Been trying to figure out how to upload videos. Special kudo's to Alientude with his patience, helping me figure out how to upload these damn things.
Anyway, here's a vid of the Deepeeka prototype Aislinn.

As do I. Neither the prototype nor the Comte suffer that afflication. <however, Loe is secretely stoked about seeing and handling that fuller in person, ala Metropolitan Museum XV.9. Maybe it'll have a little more cut potential? The others don't>
And if that bores you to tears (as well it should), here's more to make you cry. LoE's unrelenting murdilation of a Rolling Stones classic tune. Now that LoE figured out how to finally upload videos!
This is LoE on one of his "axes" generating Unholy Dischord to disrupt the harmony of all Angelic choirs to come. Look upon me Ye Mighty, and Despair! I am LoE, come upon you to to end all!!
Weep and Despair!

Yeah, I thought of that too, which is why I haven't pulled the trigger at this point.

I myself am guilty of misreading the published distal taper measurements. I lost track of the decimal places. I actually thought some of them had minimal distal taper. Per the published measurements, they don't. LoE drinks too much scotch (in his mind, not enough scotch).
But... LoE will see for himself shortly. That Aislinn just ordered actually gets bigger towards the tip, not smaller. The fuller inverts into a diamond pattern. That could be a good thing, create more cutting power at the end of the type XV. XV's don't have much cutting value.
But LoE will see for himself shortly (in KoA's timing, which is perhaps a couple weeks minimum?). LoE is stoked, actually, and will share results.

From what I've seen, blades that feature a "reverse distal taper," that is, they get a little thicker at the tip, are designed for thrusting. Reinforcing the tip like that makes sense. I wouldn't be confident that is what Deepeeka is trying to do, however.

I dunno Alien. I just know that I like these type XV blades.
I own one, and I have two on the way. You're in a bigger league than me, because you've moved faster. But I'll share my impressions on these el cheapo's when they show up.
You already know that my first type XV fell through my toe, leaving my toe slightly injured courtesy of my own good fortune and incompetence. But that's kind of similar to your own tennis elbow. It's a learning experience. I was fortunate it only pierced the toe-nail, and that it's mostly grown back.
I really do dig these type XV's.
Deepeeka's may well suck. I'll find out more shortly. I'll share.

I'm pretty sure they won't have much or any distal taper.
But I'm also pretty sure that that won't matter much when it comes to investment. These "new and improved" sub-$200 swords, complete with wood core leather wrapped scabbards (and sometimes paired with integrated sword belts), are can't lose items.
Even if I don't like them. I can just dump 'em.

I'm thinking of picking up the Militia Templi Sword and it's matching dagger. The KoA stats say it starts at 4.4 mm and tapers to 3 mm, 2 lbs 6 oz, POB 3 1/4", so those stats don't look too bad. If you do, report what you find the stats to be. The one I got from KoA was way off. Probably more to do with Deepeeka's quality control than anything. thanks for pointing this out. will check the quality team where we went wrong.

KoA contacted me today and told me the Comte just shipped. Coincidence right after I fussed about "how long" will it take to ship pm this board.
KoA monitors these boards. I'm pleased to say that. It means the new owner cares. That's a good thing.

I also like that the Deepeeka exporter is watching these boards. He held true to his word on the Aislinn sword availability. It showed up on KoA yesterday.
He's also watching our comments about distal tapering.
This is a good thing. These guys care. It's great to give them a forum to find out how they can get better. It's also great they have a desire to improve and an opportunity to find out how to improve.
Better swords are coming.

It's poor design. It's foolish to kick off a SQL statement to a database every time someone clicks on a check box. For example: SELECT BRANDS FROM LIST OF MANUFACTURERS -------------------- 36 brand checkboxes to turn off or on In my use case, I want to select 14 brands. I select the first one. It refreshes by querying the database. I select a second one. It refreshes by sending a query to the database. It should not send the SQL to the database until I click SUBMIT, after I select all 14 of my brands. Instead, their design "refreshes" by querying the database each time a box is selected or unselected. Unnecessary work for the database. Unnecessary slowness for the user. Poor design. I really agree with this, the new site is a MESS and I want the old one back. You ought to email them regarding this, I have.

Dear All, we have two versions of each sword: fighting and regular. Our fighting is slightly heavier than the regular with the edge about 2mm. Regular is about 1mm edges. We dont sell sharpened blades. is the weight issue on both fighting and regular. Hey Gagan! (That is you, right!?) Glad to see you have come over from the Roman Army Talk forums, we are extremely glad to have you. I personally am looking at buying Moonbrand! IMO Deepeeka is at it's best when it disposes of the frills and makes a down to earth, simplified version of an original. I love that you are attempting to replicate things like the markings on the TOTO, Duna and River Witham sword but I think you would do better to just leave the markings off and just focus on finish & strong assembly. Some of the markings turn out better than others, but at the end of the day I think some of them look cheaper for having them when they might look better and more austere & functional without. Just my 2 Cents!

I really dig how Deepeeka is improving itself. It's working. That's healthy. And it's working.
In answer to the question of "how do you?, Mr. LoE? have a prototype of that Aislinn model?"....
The answer to that question is an SBG member pointed these out to me (a year ago) when he saw them on eBay or FaceBook, I can't remember which. Apparently Deepkeepa (like other major players in the sword marker) spent some money on research and development for prototypes. Amounting to 40 different prototype models, three examples of each one. After they developed them, they dumped them.
That guy that got these, somehow, had accrued 40 models (times three of each) at his personal expense, then dumped them all on FaceBook/eBay.
I was lucky enough to get one of them before they were gone. Just one. And I loved it. I still own it.
