In Germany it's now six days in a row with slightly decreasing rate of new infections. Ca. 40 deaths each day due to covid.

Some 1600 daily average deaths for the past week here.
The American Civil War was averaging about 500 a day over four years.
US numbers from John Hopkins
28-Day Deaths 44,854
Still at that 1600 daily.
153,000 new reported US cases a day over the past 28 days (4,290,319).

For my State, the latest daily update data:
Total new cases: 5,133
Total cases: 649,691
Total new deaths: 45 (last year, this was considered a terrible total for an entire week)
Current Positivity Rate: 12.88% (our Governor's original goal last year was for this to not exceed 1.5%)
ICU utilization: 86.5%
Inpatient bed utilization: 71% (keep in mind no elective surgeries, so these are also emergency only cases)
All but two of our 120 Counties are ranked "Red" (highest rating for crisis severity in a rating system determined by State Authorities).

As many Americans have now died of COVID (675,000) as have died in the 1918-19 Spanish Flu. True, a smaller number percentage wise of the population (1918 population was 1/3 the size of today), although cold comfort to the loved ones.

From one of our newspapers the “Tico Times”.
An analysis of intensive-care patients on September 14 found: 88.3% were unvaccinated or hadn’t finished their vaccine schedule. 69.2% hadn’t received any vaccine against Covid-19. 17.5% had received one of two shots. 1.6% had received their second dose within 15 days. 11.6% were fully vaccinated.
Nearly three-quarters of those hospitalized in non-ICU beds on September 14 were unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, the Caja detailed.
Same paper, different subject:
As part of its ongoing genomic vigilance, the Institute for Nutrition and Health Research (INCIENSA) identified that 71 of the 116 people who tested positive for Covid-19 and whose samples were sequenced had the more-contagious virus variant.
“The above data are a reflection of the weekly increase that the percentages of the Delta variant continue to show in the country,” said the director of the Genomics Laboratory, Francisco Duarte, through a press release.
Researchers also detected the Mu variant in 14 of the 116 samples, while an infant with Covid-19 in San José had a spike protein mutation (K417N) associated with vaccine resistance.

The news shows people lined up for vaccinations. Hazel had to wait in line for hours for both of hers. But evidently there are many reluctant for the shot. The airport in San José is now offering $200 to their employees after receiving both shots and others private companies are doing their thing to encourage vaccinations, but not paying. The government is now requiring certain government workers to be vaccinated. Wow, $200 plus free shots. I wish but nobody had to pay me.

Yeah, I’m in Georgia near Atlanta and they’ve been doing promos giving away $100 gift cards and a chance to meet two retired NBA players. I’ve had 23 shots and met a couple of guys taller than me. JK. Stay safe brother.

Here is similar new tactic my State is employing to encourage vaccination to reduce our case count:
"Enter to win one of 30 drawings for a [State name] safe-cation at one of 45 state parks. Safe-cations gift certificates will include golf rounds, and overnight lodging and campground stays at [State name] State Parks."
It must be working, we are seeing a decrease in daily new cases and our positivity rate is down to about 10% (still about 10 times our max hoped for last year).

A friend of mine got the two jabs. Then a few months later, he caught covid. WTF!?
As the science develops and more research and information come in, we are learning that the jabs suppress covid symptoms but do not keep one from catching covid and do not keep one from giving covid. Which is increasingly showing that these experimental covid shots are not real vaccines.
Disappointing but important to know. Seems the reason the govt was advising those "vaccinated" to still wear masks is because they knew this...and the masks, even after getting the "vaccines" were to help keep the "vaccinated" from catching covid again and to help keep them from spreading theirs to others.
Disappointing.

Disappointing. Well I’m no expert and not sure the meme thread is the appropriate place for this. I wouldn’t want it to get locked. I’m not sure you understand how vaccine shots work. My understanding is vaccine shots build up your immune resistance to whatever disease they are for but don’t create a bubble around you keeping you from getting it. (In fact there was a meme on this thread about that). For example, you get a regular old flu shot and walk into a room full of flu sufferers, you are breathing in flu germs and can carry those germs into other places. And I’m not sure what the efficacy of the flu shot is but I’m sure some people might still get the flu. And I’m not talking about the symptoms from the shot. Same with Covid, I mean it’s like the flu on steroids. Nothing seems to work on 100% of people 100% of the time. H*ll, you would think a bullet to the head would kill every person but some people survive even that. We have a few people on this forum who I would consider very well educated in these fields of study so if I’m wrong on any part of my example please correct me. And mods if you feel free to move or delete this.

Think of it this way, u got the vaccine and u still catch covid cause someone with it sneezes all over u. But its mild and nothing serious and u brush it off in a few days, u dont get the vaccine and u catch covid and u are half dead in a hospital bed on a ventilator unable to breath

97% of people who are in the hospital with covid are unvaccinated and nearly all the deaths are unvaccinated

It's not the catching of COVID that's the big fear but the serious illness and death, which the vaccine protects against.

www.faz.net/aktuell/rhein-main/israels-starke-argumente-fuer-die-dritte-impfdosis-17583433.htmlAn interesting article, unfortunately in German, about the experiences with covid vaccination in Israel as a trailblazer. In Israel the only use the Biontech/Pfizer vaccine. A third shot will be necessary to remain a high immunity level after months. This is similar to a Hepatitis B vaccination which also needs three shots to be complete. So that's not a sign of covid vaccines being insufficient. A longer time period between the first two shots increases the time period of good immunity. In Israel they had only 3 weeks between the first and second shot and the immunity level decreased after 4 - 6 months from 90 % to 40 % protection against severe illness. In Germany we have 6 weeks between the first two shots and can expect a high immunity level for ca. 1 year.

That’s interesting about the time between shots and good info. I had three weeks being given the vaccine earlier on. Hazel and Pamela had a much longer period receiving their first shot in July, so that explains it. With my immunity I can expect it to wear off sooner.
