Yeah, either way is fine. I usually sale in the "Items for Sale or Trade" section, but that's a holdover from earlier versions of the forum. Nowadays it doesn't really matter.

Blade Runner I'm sorry to see you selling off your "monster katana." Hopefully, you will continue to be a member of Team Big-Ass Sword. I'm finally getting close to completing my hybrid greatsword project. I'm waiting on a replacement pommel (I received a stainless one, and not the mild steel one I asked for). I'm currently working on the scabbard. It has two bridges (one at either end and either side), and there will be a leather chape, leather accent pieces, and an integrated baldric.

Update to Recent Update:
Thanks Zen. That is one viscous looking mega blade.
I may be sending it to another forum member with mega katana expertise for repolishing.
Yes, I love mega blades as I am the Blade Runner!!!!! Haha!....eh.
I will order another monster katana from Sinosword. However, I will change at least the Sakikasane from 8mm to 6mm and may add a bo hi to reduce weight.

You should be able to get some massive blades as references 😊

As the Monster Katana saga continues... Verity the American Ronin, has chosen to embrace the quest that no other dare attempt. With his skills finely honed by years of trials by combat, he will battle the rust demons and unleash the monster katana lurking in the shadows...... In other words, Verity has decided to re-polish the sword blade among other changes. Stay tuned for Verity's updates. Mega cool. Verity battling rust demon with monster katana.

Have you tried asking Nihonzashi? nihonzashi.com/sword_sharpening.aspx I would shudder to think of a sword That Size sharpened by Femal Sensei. Before I ordered and waited 2 months plus for a new sword I would upgrade the current one.

Long time no hear. Thanks Richard. Verity just received the monster katana and will evaluate it soon. He has got some cool upgrades planned. Stay tuned for Verity's new thread(s) concerning it. .....I think Verity is also planning some trick cutting vids and I think he may have indicated trying to break some matting cutting world record with it...Haha!.....eh.

Well if he tries tell him mats have to be rolled as tight as possible, new tatami soaked no more than 12 hours used tatami no more than 24. Dont want to be going by lax standards like some of the Angel Sword crowd that hold those Records. :)

Well I am hardly a “trick cutter” so in seriousness I doubt I will break any records, but I am interested in seeing what this sucker can do.

Well trick cut patterns I dont know many who would succeed. But single mats I dont imagine it will take much for Kesa or Gyaku kesa.

Looking forward to seeing what you cook up with your changes. Cutting with that blade would be an absolute blast. It'll be fun to hear what you think of cutting with it compared to that nimble nihonto from your Japan trip.

It'll be fun to hear what you think of cutting with it compared to that nimble nihonto from your Japan trip. while I still need to fully evaluate, some changes I think definitely will be in order: 1.) reshape the blade to add more distal taper. My plan is to take off about 3mm at the tip and have a smooth and even distal. This will require pretty much reshaping the entire ji, shinogi-ji and kissaki. 2.) transform the brass habaki that is inconsistent with the color scheme into a two piece double habaki with the current brass one serving as the front part which I will groove for the base, and then blacken. The base part of the habaki will be fashioned from sterling silver to give it a black/silver double habaki look. Coupled with black seppa and a silver tsuba. 3.) reprofile the existing tsuba to give it better shape and will likely add some engraved decoration to it. 4.) the saya will undergo modifications as well but still noodling on what those will be.

Sweet, number one sounds like a perfect idea to make it a bit more fun to swing around, although that might give you a good workout reprofiling. I forget, is this blade through-hardened? The habaki idea is a good one, that will make the sword look all the more menacing, typical brass didn't do this unique blade justice.
A 'monster' engraving would seem pretty appropriate, although there'd be something fun and ironic about having a sparrow or rabbit there instead

it is a through-hardened 9260 blade so, yeah, #1 is gonna be fun. Lol. Iirc the current menuki are serpents but I have to look more closely. Will probably keep to the same stylistic design as the Tsuka already has, but yeah. A rabbit or sparrow or hummingbird would be kind of ironic. Hehe.

Have you decided to sell it? I would be interested for sure. I would love to get the dynamics of that monster.
