Ah yes of course. My apologies. I made the mistake of not reading each post before throwing out a comment. Curious to see the results!

Dotanuki blades are seriously growing on me, I love how they seem like utter cutting beasts! In Japanese warfare I bet these were terrifying to see an enemy wielding.

No one reads all the comments after a few pages. LOL! Thank your for your interest in the sword. However, at this point, either I or Verity will most likely keep it.

sinoswords does good work for a decent price, u can pm them about making another one Robert - To emphasize Storms comment, first couple posts in this thread shows my cost ($334 + shippings) and my custom sword specs. Its one of the best deals out there. Highly recommend working with Van of Sinosword. He will walk you through process if you want a standard model or mega custom. Their site has a custom sword form, but you can go beyond the form or less. Fitting choices can mega increase the cost. You risk rust if it ships during rainy season and sending back any sword to China is a no go. Feel welcome to private message me about the process if you prefer. Note: Anyone using my specs should change Sakikasne from 8 mm to less. I would use 6mm, knowing what I know now. I reviewed the specs of many katanas and notice they do not have much distal taper. So I went that route. Not good. Starting out mega thick with a long wide blade, should have increased upper distal taper (Sakikasane) by reducing blade thickness.

I think in think in this case 5.6-5.8mm would be ideal on a sakikasane vs motokasane. I am gonna aim for that range on my overhaul and should make for a massive but more lively blade. I’d advise anyone following suit to go for 9mm motokasane and 5.6-5.8mm sakikasane

As you're undoubtedly well aware, my little emoji is shorthand for ".....and then shot the **** out of them".
As a battlefield weapon, the dotanuki might have been well suited to the tactics of French knights of the late middle ages. You know, ride into mud and absorb arrows?
IMHO, the scariest Japanese hand-to-hand weapon is the nagamaki being used as a scythe and a can-opener.

Zen_Hydra, this reminds me of a monster version of a Warder’s sword from the wheel of time... does it by chance have a heron mark? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

This is a pretty nice construction and quite inspiring. When I get tsuka that fails or deteriorate beyond recovery I think creating my own fantasy themed sword a good idea, thank you for sharing.

The Shears of Atropos greatsword is finally complete (after 10 months). It's ready to start killing apostles of the God Hand and/or tatami and water bottles. As most know, Zen had this mega monster blade custom made at Sinosword. Zen - Just awesome! Can you share your blade specs (blade length, width and thickness and weight)? Very interested in your motokasane and Sakikasane (blade thickness at lower and upper blade to show distal taper).

Haha....eh . Yes, before Zen had it made, I warned him about not making the kasane too thick like me. I think he did make it thinner.
