Is this where I pipe up and ask for a comparison with a 'normal' katana? Ahem. I kid. I read the stats, it looks like it came out awesome!

Yes, a "Faldarin Pic" is generally required (sword next to a Coke can) for size comparison.

Let me get it in my hands and I will put together the requested comparison photos. However, I'm not sure how long shipping time will be from China to Texas.

For me, from China to Oklahoma, it was about 12 days and my sword went through Dallas before arriving in Oklahoma. Supposely, the big slow down can be customs in the New York area. Mine somehow made it in and out of customs in a few days.
Hope they lube the blade well. Mine is going back for rust removal (occurred during shipping due to abnormal rainy season according to Van).

Wow. Look how much longer and wider the Odachi blade is than the O-katana! Man, I love that wide katana kissaki!!!!! Is the long blade flexi or stiff with the 6mm sakikasane? That is one bad azz monster blade! Need more details (weight, balance, etc.) and most importantly, your impressions.

I have to track down my micrometer to get the measurements right. It is a beast. For a moment, before I drew it from saya, I thought I had badly miscalculated. Once I drew it, I knew it was what I wanted. I have no doubt (unseen flaws in the metal allowing) that this sword could cut down a charging horse. Even at it size and weight it doesn't sag or bow, and the blade makes a deep "bong" sound when struck. I am honestly surprised at the quality of this blade for the price ($300 before shipping), and it must have been difficult to work (and awkward to sharpen). Honestly, the only problem I have with it is the width of tsuka, but I always intended to replace it.
Today, my plan is to find my micrometer and a scale to confirm the blade's stats, and then examine the nakago.

Love that you used the H/T bastard for a comparison! That is one that I can immediately get the frame of size in my mind of that monster.
As for the price - sinosword ALWAYS seems to impress, and they have the quality to back it up.

It appears it will be a gamble to ship the monster katana back to Sinosword. I needed it re-polished to remove some very stubborn rust on one side. Before I take that gamble, I am going to try again to remove it.
I tried Flitz metal polish over and over again. One side looks new. But, one side still has mega rust spots on it.
Does anyone know of a polish stronger than Flitz?

It feels lightly pitted.

I don't know, man. After RiC's (ongoing)nightmare with sending something back to China I would have a lot of hesitation doing so myself.

Sandpaper? I really doubt any of the polishing agents in a tube will get rid of pitting sadly. You could try that evapo-rust stuff to get any rust out of the pits, but I'm not sure how it affects the rest of the polish.

Thanks for comments guys. Yeah, even Van of Sinosword said it would need to go back on the belt polisher because of the pitting. Guess I got to figure out a way to avoid Shanghai Customs and ship it back to Sinosword.
When I last tried to ship it back, private shipping places all wanted $300 + and they said it might take over a month to get to Sinosword if it got their at all. Why I asked. They all said, it's a sword shipping TO China.
USPS costs less than $90 but I have yet to find a USPS in Oklahoma that will ship it because it's a sword and a customs form has to be completed and approved....plus, we now know USPS will send it through Shanghai Customs.

That's all you need to do? You could easily do it yourself, or ship it to someone stateside to fix it for you. That won't be very hard to fix.

Update:
As most know, I received the custom specifications monster katana from Sinosword with rust on one side. The blade was not in the saya and layed on the presentation box satin like liner. The liner absorbed the lube and left rust spots on that side. I removed all the rust but patches of micro pitting remained.
Van of Sinosword said the blade needs to be repolished on a "band polisher". They will repolish and resharpen it and upgrade it for free IF I return it.
I have followed Robert's misadventures trying to return a sword to Sinosword. Therefore, I will not attempt to send it back to Sinosword.
I can not find anyone that can/will re-polish it. It looks like a high end custom sword, but the pitting is driving my crazy. I think I may sell it in this sites classifieds as a project sword.

First time listing a sword for sale. How do you determine if the listing goes in the main "Classifieds" section or in the sub board section "Item for Sale or Trade"? Thanks.
