Since I'm gonna die in a fight anyway, I'll try to use up all my swords first! Here they are, the longship stuff! Yeah har! I've two set of armors modded with this scabbard retractor, and all my longship swords have their scabbard made to fit the retractor. Attachments:

Coooool! 8-) Asad..., Djinnobi... BREATHE !!! >:D I actually have 3 set of armors. 1 set was supposed to be able to hide inside jacket, which I normally wear when I go out. Yes, even before civilization breakdown, I wear armor when I go out if the temperature permits. I'm that crazy. :) The second set, as shown in the retractor video, will be used along with the same limbs protection as the third set. These two sets are my fighting armor, with scabbard retractor installed. The difference between the second and the third set is mainly torso protection. The second set is good for high mobility and summer use. The third set has more coverage and thickness, more protective but hotter and heavier.

Guess I'll play now falcata, of course it will be one I've made. That's a good choice right there. My machete is falcata like and it does everything I could need from it. Thrusts, cuts, chops, draw cuts. Does them all magnificently. I can only imagine how much a dedicated sword could do those things even better

This is one of the reasons why I like the CS bushman so much. Yup. I think I mentioned the CS bushman (and spears in general) earlier, but then focused on the "sword only" aspect of the equation. Really, that CS bushman is so nice because you can simply detach to use as a knife, while the spear magically turns back into a staff. Heck, that is like three things in one, with the spear being better (generally) than the sword. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. And lets not forget that (like the tomahawk) you can just carry the bushman knife with you and then fashion the shaft in the woods. I got a super deal a number of years back and as a result I have an emergency kit in every vehicle and a bushman in every kit. Whenever we go camping each survival kit in our hydration packs has a bushman. It's just a great survival tool to have. Their scabbard is kind of cheesy and when I get some time I'm going to build better ones.

The bushman (and special forces shovel) should be required purchasing, and I consider Cold Steels finest hour.

What would your ideal clothing be in a civilization break down?

What would your ideal clothing be in a civilization break down? That is somewhat subjective and more importantly where one lives. Canada in the cold months would be entirely different from Florida. Generally speaking clothing that can be layered and have a wicking effect would be advantageous.

What would your ideal clothing be in a civilization break down? What you wear will primarily be Mission and Climate driven. That said, I like the Duluth Fire Hose jeans to protect my legs. Very tough and with plenty of room to move in. You can even get some that come with a slot to put in knee pads! I would think that Carhart would wear equally as well. Solid combat lug style shoes/boots with ankle support. Steel toed boots are nice if you have to do some hard arsed kicking. Layered upper body so you could add or remove layers as necessary. Something to protect your skin. Scrapes and cuts can quickly become infected in breakdown situation. Some kind of armored or protective vest at least covering your vital organs. Military, Cop or Homemade if that's all you have to work with. Knee and elbow pads might not be a bad idea as well as soccer shin guards. Barked shins are not funny. And GLOVES, don't forget good quality gloves for your hands. High quality, well fitting, leather gloves. While I hated wearing those heavy and hot Kevlar helmets when I was in the military, they do protect your grape. Even a Bump Helmet like rock climbers wear is a good idea. Those trimmed up military Spec Op Kevlar versions would be good for protecting the main grape area yet not interfere with your hearing and vision. Throw in a sniper veil to help break up your outline and maybe even a gillie shawl or poncho for when you need to drop suddenly out of sight.

Considering you are ex military and this would be your load out, I feel pretty proud of my load out. I got everything but the jeans and helmet in my apocalypse gear. For the clothes to wear under the vest and what not, I got a thick cotton ninjutsu gi. Kinda corny, but its all I got, and it does provide extremely good ease of movement, Plus a thick brown leather jacket to wear over the vest and such. My poncho is a soviet era canvas poncho that is designed to be able to be made into a quick shelter too. Since it is green, it would make my black gear easier to hide in woodlands. I only wish I could add a kevlar helmet. Definitely out of my price range though. I do, however, plan to buy a steel ww2 helmet sometime in the future

Generally speaking clothing that can be layered and have a wicking effect would be advantageous. With all the variance in Canada's weather, truth be told, it makes a perfect set of idealized clothes in a civilization break down kinda tough to decide. I find the summers blistering hot here, so much that I know wearing even my vest over a tshirt with shorts would be hell. Don't even get me started on the cold, but at least in cold all you gotta do is dress up. Ain't nothing a person can do about heat. I have no idea how anyone can stand summer. I would die if I moved to a warmer climate lol

I would die if I moved to a warmer climate lol Consider what the people of the First Nation wore. Look at what the "Natives" used to wear survive without technology in the local climate. These people survived for thousands of years with only what was locally available and what they could make for themselves. That's not to restrict you on what to use but just what is possible.

True true. I would probably burn up if I went shirtless in summer though. Me and the sun are not friends.
I suppose I could always just swim everywhere lol. I do live on an island.
Unrelated, but has anyone else ever had a thirst to swim? I got mad cravings right now

I'll just run around naked and scare everyone, that way I won't need a sword or gun.
