Oh man, that really sucks. I hope you get your money back because that's just rubbish
I was thinking of buying something from Cold Steel; however, if this mortuary sword sh*tshow is indicative of today's Cold Steel workmanship, I'll gladly take my money elsewhere.
Seriously... how does anyone step back and take a look at this "product" and say "Yup, that's a good day's work. Let's ship this"

Well, it is not CS's workmanship technically. I think it went like this: They place an order at Windlass, deliver the specs ( 6mm thick blade ) and wait. Windlass screwed up maybe an order of a couple of 100 swords, I do not no how many. CS accepted the output ( why? ) and now sits on a mountain of out of spec swords. Where stuff went wrong is that CS accepted the output in the first place and secondly, that CS is dealing out this inferior product to the ignorant masses. These swords are not up to the usual CS standard. This behaviour of ,, sell them and let God sort them out'' is not typical for CS. Stuff like this undermines their good name and standing in the community. Suddenly they are not reliable anymore. Which is bad, specially in such a small and fought over market. That is why I would have expected at least some explanation from a CS rep at some point. They play schtumm. Another bad decision. Is Mr. Thompson losing his grip on the company?

I'll call them Monday, just been busy with other things and keeping it from my head.
Going to ask them why they ignored my directions that they were not to just send me a strait sword with the same damn problem waiting to happen as soon as I use it, after making it clear I was not some idiot who considered a sword with a bigger opening in the guard and the handle cavity than the blade thickness was safe for my 13 year old son and I to use because some warehouse monkey poured epoxy down it. That's part 1.
I said in email and in a letter attached to the sword I sent back I;'d rather wait until they use all the semprini Indian stock and get this sword right. IF they decided to discontinue the sword, then I want anther sword from them.
I don't know what to expect here. I think they should have no problem taking this piece of semprini back and sending me a Scottish basket hilt or a 1852 pipeback if they are not going to get the English back Sword right. the other one I had would have been a great sword IF they had their dimensions right.

Damn sword reviews want to give me OCD. :-) I have yet to do the aluminium basball bat block and parry test I have with my Windlass "CSA" officer's sword and my Bravarian IOS , or a more ambtious crowbar block test, I'll Think I want to be suited up in masks, gloves and a heavy coat IF I do with this. Out of curiosity, what is the "Aluminum baseball bat test"?

Yes, buddy gives a swing at your neck your side with a aluminium ( I use UK spelling on Spellcheck, their language, their rules.) baseball bat and you block it, or you get the poo knocked out of you.
I called them 2 days ago, no call back so I’ll be calling them today.

*revive*
Whats the thread like on the tang? I am thinking of doing a blade transplant with a Hanwei Basket Hilt, and was wondering whether the pommel of the CS would fit onto that of the Hanwei blade...
If so then anyone looking to get rid of their CS mortuary....:D

Hello Has Cold steel thickened the blades in later batchs or are they still 4mm?

Well, I love the blade and eventually I'll have it remounted before I start cutting with it.
