I definitely am going to keep an eye on these!
Onceuponanace: I'm a bit confused by your comment though... you said that it's a practical sword, but that it's sharp?

There is a blunt and a sharp version of each model (Arming Sword and Long Sword).
From the test cutting done the sharp versions are very sharp.

I recieved my practical sharp arming sword, and have been extensively testing it. Very well put together, very nice blade geometry (maybe optical illusion but almost looks slightly shouldered near the crossguard), an absolutely lovely sword. I would buy another again in a heartbeat.
The blade is also very stiff, and the sword just feels right overall. The handling on the sword is very intuitive and while at first I thought the balance point was too far down the guard, I think it's just about perfect for what the sword is intended to do. It feels like the perfect balance between viking cutting sword and crusader-style cut and thrust.
VERY HAPPY with the sword. Her name is Lady Ash.

Hey folks. Anyone here order BOTH a sharp and blunt LS??? I am curious as to the comparison stats between them (blade length, OAL, POB, weight, etc.). I got both (grin)...ah hem...on to business. the long sword specs are as fallows weight: 2lbs 11oz blade length:36'' overall:45 1/2 '' grip, (not including pommel) :7'' cob (measured from the end of the guard clossest the tip):6 3/4'' cop( '' '' ) :25'' short 2lbs 4oz blade length: 31'' overall:38'' grip:4 1/2 cob:5 1/2'' cop:21'' both have the same pommel and cross guard. The grip of the long is a bit thicker. The long sword is basically the big brother of the short. the blade width at the base is the same (1 3/4'') I hope this helps.

Marty, those specs on the longsword look pretty close to what I got also, how do you like it? Have you got to cut with it yet? I find it very fun to use.

Hello Ric. How does it compare to handling and performance on any of the Dark Sword Armory swords? Do you own any of those swords? Would be curious to know as they both are made of the same steel and have the same RC hardness.

The long sword is my first good cutting two hander, so I have a little to learn yet. One handers are my personal forte, so the arming sword works perfectly for me. It responds quickly and with lots of cutting power. For cutting I got out some 8oz bottles, (these have a lot of "give" and will bounce off even a good strike. It (the arming) performed well, Only one bottle got away.

Marty, I prefer a one hander myself, but I didn't have a real two hander so I chose the LS. I hear ya on those little bottles, I like to use a variety of sizes and shapes. The little ones are the toughest to get right no doubt.

Hey Marty, thanks for that, but I was looking for someone to post specs for the sharp and blunt versions of the Longswords. So, again, did anyone order both the blunt and sharp versions of the LS??? I see several websites listing these as identical, but I find that hard to believe.

Got it – however, those stats are identical for both versions. I have seen side-by-side photos of the sharps and blunts that show the blunt blades (on the Long swords esp.) are noticeably shorter (look on p. 2 of this thread, for example). This seems to make sense given they are necessarily a different taper and profile. So, while I know the specs on my sharp LS, does anyone have a blunt they have received that can be measured so we can compare?
Thanks.

I am pretty sure those are the right stats. But I will double check when I get back in town on Tuesday. I'll let you know when I get back.

These are the measurements I got on each sword... 304S Long SharpOverall Length: 45.5" Blade Length: 34.75" Handle Length: 8" Blade Material: Hand Forged 1060 High Carbon Spring Steel Blade Width at Guard: 2.125" Sword Weight: 3lbs 8oz Center of Gravity: 6.5" Since these are hand forged specs may vary a little bit. Hey swordnation, Are you certain about those weights? This is almost exactly 1 lb heavier than the AT304S I have for testing. I've weighed three of them and they went 2.4, 2.5 and 2.9 lbs respectively. Could the correct weight acually be 2lbs 8oz?

Okay, I'll chime in. I get around 3 lb. on a bathroom scale. The width at the cross I get around 1 7/8 in. Maybe I got one of the anorexic ones. ;D

Also if my camera works I am going to get some side by side pics of them all. Thank ya'll for your patience I wanna get this right so there is no more confusion.
