Hi All
Iv been putting this off for a good while now ,time always seems to be a very scarce commodity when having a family

.
So here are a couple of pics of my collection ,Ill be posting some better pics of the entire collection once we have finished moving into our new place as currently most of my collection is packed (or in the process of getting packed) for the move .
There are a couple of others I need to add to this list ,but will do so once the move is done together with pics .Iv also got 7 swords being completed by Sonny currently (German Long Sword , Leaf Atrim , 1577 Atrim , Norman Sword ,2 Medieval swords and an Actium ) together with a shield ,these ill post pics of as soon as they arrive .
I am trying to add variety to my collection and hope someday to have something to represent all era's ,well thats the idea .For now though here are some pics of my collection in progress .

If I remember right, SF buys his swords mostly in bulk depending on his nation's currency fluctuations, which he mentioned doesn't lend itself well to having a sword custom made from the ground up.

That is a tough one ,well my two favourite katana would have to be the Bushido and the Bamboo Mat Katana's ,but if I absolutely had to choose only one I would take the Bamboo Mat .As for sabers ,hmmm I would say the Charlemagne saber ,not really for it's cutting performance as some of the Cold Steel sabers are alot better suited for heavier cutting ,but just because I love the look and feel of the Charlemagne saber

Yes i did cut with the Dharma ,but nothing really heavy ,just some light cutting really .I seem to be finding less and less time of late to do any cutting :cry: .My overall impression is that it is perfect for light cutting ,but I dont think I would try anything too heavy on this one .As for the Kouga ,well its a vast improvement over the Old Hanwei Ninto ,personally I just wish they would have lost the whole spike thing at the end of the saya ,but that's just my opinion .Maybe I should do a review one of these days comparing it to my older Hanwei Ninto ,just to find the time ....

Thanks Chenessfan , well I have 2 albions which are already packed and which I need to take pics of sometime in the Albion Crecy and Templar plus there is my CF Borderwatch which has a Albion Blade as well .As for Atrim's well there are a couple with Sonny right now which I have recently bought from him ,but I dont want to say too much on these as we are doing something different with these which I look forward to sharing with everyone once Sonny has completed them . WIth regards to Odinblades etc ,well Its difficult as im an international buyer and I usually buy my swords in batches to take advantage of exchange rates and shipping costs , hence I prefer to by "in stock" customs or customs with a quick turn around time . I cannot wait 6 weeks (or longer) for swords as that leaves me no way to budget accurately for customs duties etc which are all linked to our currency which fluctuates daily . Hence the Customs I have collected have all been pieces that were either completed or had a very quick turn around time

That's great information, thank you. Good to hear, too--I almost bought the Charlemagne saber last year, but I put the funds toward a different blade instead. And I've been thinking for a while that if I get another kat it'll be the Bamboo Mat, so there you go.

Put it like this Zach, I am in no way a Katana guy, they really do nothing for me.

However, the only Katana that I ever owned and hung onto for over a year because I liked it that much was a Bamboo Mat.
The "big green guy" has it now, he can give you some infobits on it.

Your collection contains some damn fine examples from some of the best makers and manufacturers around, congratulations.
Keep your eyes open for a Raven Armoury piece, sometimes you will see one pop up on the secondary market, They are beyond epic in feel once you have one in hand. Simon Fearnhamm really knows his business, and his blades are works of art. One would fit into your collection quite well.

If I may be so bold as to make a few suggestions, your collecting interests mirror my own somewhat, and I think that you may appreciate a few examples that you don't currently own-

Kris Cutlery- the Teutonic. An underrated and seldom talked about piece that is really a diamond in disquise.

Atrim- the 1562. A handful of Power and authority. Or the 1326. deceptive in what it can do, but packs a wallop in a small package.

A nice showing of blades that you shared, quality and diversity. Thanks for taking the time to show them.

Iv actually got a Kris Teutonic on backorder from KOA already :lol:
I am also looking at picking up some more Atrim's as I go and have them done up by Sonny ,I am loving his service ,great guy to deal with .Iv got 2 Atrim's which he is currently busy with a 1577 and a leaf blade ,but ill wait until he is finished them to unvail them entirely :lol: .
Still need to pick me up a Maeglas from Christian Fletcher though ,must have one ........

It is a bit flexible due to the waisted section in the leafblade, but not overly so. The weight forward blade section carries it through a target quite easily, and if your alignment isn't drastically off, there is no undue feedback to speak of. It is not the heavy hitter that the Borderwatch is when employed properly, but is stil capable of dealing a flat out nasty cut.

Fair warning on the Atrims, they are addictive. Seriously, once you have one, you start getting goofy thoughts about buying the whole line. They have that effect!!

Yeah ,I must admit I am eagerly awaiting my 2 Atrims from Sonny (he must be getting sick of my e mails ,ha ha :lol: ) . Really looking forward to my leafy atrim and what we have planned for it as well as the 1577 , Ill just say it's going to be something different .

On Hanwei Katana... the Bushido and Bamboo Mat are also my favorite from Hanwei... and I've owned or handled almost everything they have from the Practical Katana to the Oni. I prefer the Bushido just a smidge over the Bamboo Mat... its lighter and faster and I love the hada.

For production Katana my favorites of all time are the Oni Forge Ryu, Kris Cutlery 26, and the Hanwei Bamboo Mat and Bushido.
