If any of them are verizon smart phones or blue tooth send em to me instead... I busted mine. Ya know, I'm surprised I had not thought of that at all... but young Slayer has hit on a good idea there Tom... you should work your sharpening services into the website as an option somehow... its a natural fit.

I intend to offer sharpening from time to time, but until Uncle Sam is done with me, I cannot offer it all the time but there will be periods of time when it is available.

That is so true. I thought I was done in 2005, but Uncle Sam thought otherwise. So I am heading into the mountain of Central Asia in a few months. No arguing with Uncle Sam.

Uncle is getting tired of me. . . I cause too much trouble. retirement will be coming soon I think. that and we have plenty of electricians I doubt my retirement will be messed with.
but I'm not going to make people wait 2 years for sharpening. I just want to get the place running smoothly before I shake things up too much by adding more workload.
things are happening pretty fast on my end even though outwardly things must look fairly slow.
we at TTA (Tried and True Armory) are like the swan: serene above the water, paddling like mad beneath.

Aye, for example, that review you promised me Reserving judgement until I can get more info. Btw, the buy buttons aren't working still, it only takes you to the paypal page. Just thought I'd let you know.

the credit card option is really small and way down at the bottom you may have missed it, I did at first. anyway, some quick teaser photos will be up in a moment.
EDIT: I just looked, the Mercenary page buttons are not working properly.
we will address this ASAP.

Nice Tom. Curious to see what the XVI's will look like. I suppose this is another reason I should try and make time to visit up there...I can be there in 4 hours...well maybe 6 if Razor wants to come along too . Geh need to clear some projects down here (like buying a house...man that's a pain). Also the credit card options links to the same as paypal. Not sure if your using paypal for credit card transactions or something else though.

we are using paypal but there should be an option for people to use credit cards or debit cards.
beneath the paypal log in they have this written:
Don't have a paypal account? Pay with your debit or credit card as a PayPal Guest
well this is only happening in the ATrim catalog right now, the Mercenary catalog isn't working right yet but we'll get it fixed very soon.
pictures of our first shipment are up in the makers and manufacturers forum. there are no type XVI in this shipment but it shouldn't be long before we get some. I'm excited about them too.

Don't get TOO excited... fluids can cause rust and corrosion on the blades you know.

Congratulations, Tom and Hiroshi! This is an exciting new direction for Atrims. In fact, to help this effort along I've decided to support Tried and True Armory. All base model Atrims and tacticals will now be available exclusively through TTA, allowing me to focus on the higher end Prestige and Chimera lines on my site. Scabbards will still be made available for TTA swords, of course. I look forward to working with you gentlemen to continue to serve the sword collecting community.

I checked your site and saw that the build your own Atrims were gone, this explains that occurence.
Congrats Tom and Hiroshi.

Hmm... That is a bit of a bummer. I believe Tom said they would not be doing the 'build your own' style swords... and I thought that option was pretty popular once Christian offered it. Seems to me a lot of people have order a build your own sword from Mr. Fletcher... myself included. I was strongly considering a second one. If Christian is not going to do that any longer... and Tom isn't doing that threw his new venture... that's something of a sad loss for us collectors who liked that option.

I will echo those sentiments, the options were an interesting aspect to the Atrim line.
Perhaps once TTA gets situated it will once again be an option.

Hmm....I guess we will just have to wait and see what everyone works out.
Tom, I just wanted to mention, one thing that would really influence my decision as to where to buy my swords would be an offering of scabbards. You mentioned something about scabbards possibly being offered for some swords, but having a cheap scabbard (like $50-$70) would make a huge difference to me. Scabbards make transportation, display and life in general easier. Again, nothing fancy, if I want fancy, I'll go to Christian, just a utilitarian scabbard to keep the blade and bystanders safe.

If anybody hasn't noticed it yet, Christian and Tom have said they will in fact be moving the DYOAtrim to Tried and True. So no worries there...
As far as scabbards go, maybe try knocking something up out of fiberglass, or using Gaffer's cheap super-fast method where you just sandwich some 1/4" boards together? Granted, that all takes up time and would add to the price, but just make sure to note to people that there's an extra charge for scabbards... Tharp is correct that having one does help keep it safe when carrying it around and what not, even just a basic folded leather thing would be nice to have as that option.

We WILL be handling the Build Your Own project from now on, but there will have to be some changes until we get situated. we are working hard to find a custom grip solution in house but do not have one yet. to start out with we will only be offering pommel and guard options.
I would love to offer simple scabbards for a reasonable price but I have to figure out who is going to make them and what they would cost. sadly, that answer is down the road a ways. I promise it is on my list of places to visit but there's gonna be a journey to get there.
