I talked to my friend that does screenprinting. T-shirt are going to be a $6.00 each. But that does not include the set up fee. The Estimate I gave him was for 144 shirts, 2 colors, front and back. ( this can be increased or reduced ) that would be 24 small, 24med, 24 L, 24 Xl ,up to 24 XX. For this many we can have everything printed on any color for $1018.20 But that would give us some to sell (Pending Pauls argeement) in the store. If we want to put the SBG logo on the sleave, Not the really fancy one on the top of the forum but the simple one behind Paul on the old forum, it'll be another $25 dollars for the screen fee and $1 extra per shirt. If we want to get Sonny in on this and use one of his Oakeshott sword designs in the logo, we could put his Logo on the other sleave at another $25 plus $1 per shirt. And If he wasnt some to sell or give away we could talk too himabout chipping in some. The way I look a this is, If were going to get the shirts at $6 each, and resell them at around $15 to 20 each, they will pay for them selves and the ones of us who put up our money for our shirts not sold in the store will get them at around $6 each. Minus Shipping. And If we sell them and want to make the intial money back, then Charity the rest ,of whether it be to the forum itself, or another great cause, then so be it. But like I said all of these number can be changed based on how many we need/think we'll need/ or want. anything else let me now and I can find out more. And if any one wants to talk to Paul or Sonny about this, or has better communtication with them than I do being a lowly Forumite , let me know. All imput is welcome.

Hey, wanted to let everyone know that I added a poll to the first post. That way we can get a better idea of who would be interested, then we can start planning our next step around that number.
And when answering, be honest. Think of it as if you saw these shirts being sold at some guy's street stand, how many would you buy for 6 bucks each?

As I said I was looking at doing this in any case, so getting some of the leg work done for me sounds ace.
I'm in the 10+ category Greg.
Cheers,
Rob

thats what we were needing.... a poll. Thanks Greg. but keep in mind, beyond the t-shirt cost, is the screen fees which are around $100 each side of the shirt. and $25 for each sleave. so before the $6 price is the intial set up fee + labor costs. The more shirts we order the more the screening fees seem to blend in to the entire cost, but it you were to get 1 shirt made it'd be around $250 + one $6 t-shirt.

considering this price I marked 10+ as I am willing to spend up to the $100 range on this if the shirts turn out good (and even more especially if we end up with different types on the front as I loved that idea and would need many different ones to fill out my list of sword loves)
if the shirts are $25 each I'll likely buy 4-ish

at this price, it would be for 1 style t-shirt Oakeshotte front and back. THe t-shirts themselves arent where most of the expense is coming from, It's making the sceens and labor. For different style ( front and back) we'd have to pay for a completely different screen set up. the t-shirt price would remain the same either way.

I hear you Bradleee, I hear you and I understand. I just REALLY loved the idea of having a different type sword on the front with a write up of its characteristics. I'd pay a lot for that shirt.
seriously, I'd pay $20-35 per shirt easy, and buy like 5+ because I'd have to have a Xa, XII, XIII, XIV, XVI, and XVIII for sure if not more.

How about 1 shirt at a time and a image on the front kinda like i did, and the specifications of that one sword on the back. and then next time do a differnt style and differnet specs on the back. One thing we really need to decide is, is this going to be a members only type thing or do we want to inviolve Paul and let him sell them thru the store or giveaways with purchases of a sword or something, If we can to that, we could put the logo on it somewhere = free advertizing for the Forum. And we also need to know which sword are we going to use, one of our own,( as in someone draw one) or one from a specific company like valiant or cold steel or windlass? Becasue we would have to ge there permission.

Guys, I hate to reveal myself for the cheapskate that I am... but... Seems to me that if we do this as cost-effective as possible, and offer the shirts to ourselves at cost, then there shouldn't be any profits. Just some really cool shirts for us at a reasonable (OK, I'm looking for cheap) cost.
Unless, of course we are going to fulfill Greg's initial fantasy $$$$$$$$... hmmmmmmm...

John,
we could set the profit very small and give it to O.I. and/or SBG. it doesn't have to be a large amount. also someone needs to pony up the money to get the shirts made in the first place and unless we sell each shirt with some profit we will have to sell every single shirt in order for the guy who gets the shirts done to not be out a LOT of money. unless we go cafe press or whatever, I'm not real sure how that deal works.
I understand your desire to get a good deal but someone has to pick up the cost and I'd rather not see a forumite screwed. if we can find a way to do it cheap and not screw anyone then AWESOME let's do it, but I'm trying to be realistic here.

exactly, i'm jsut rying to make sure everyone is happy and no one gets screwed and we all come out of this with some cool shirts. the hardest part now is coming up witht the money to do so.

Tom, Brad, I think if we paid up front then the costs should be covered for sure. Now, I do understand that somebody has to do the grunt work - make it happen - and that this also requires somebody to shoulder a good chunk of responsibility - for handling the $$$, for arranging printing, etc... Which nobody should have to do without some reward...
But thats fair payment for services rendered, as opposed to profit...

Huh, I thought I posted this earlier, but I guess I got side tracked.
It's looking that each shirt is gonna cost around 31 bucks right now (The 1000 bucks divided up on the high side of 40 or so shirts, plus the 6 dollars flat fee per blank shirt)
Could one of you guys who is active in SFI or MyArmoury spread this news over there to see if we can't get the 1000 bucks shouldered by more people who are interested? I've also been tempted to repost this in the General forum as I realize that it might have been a bit greedy posting this in the Medieval forum. But I'll let one of the moderators make that call. (If they are following this thread) If not, I'll ask one myself.
I have contacted the admin of Oakeshott.org and asked permission to use their images and content for the purpose of showing our appreciation of their work. In the email I stated that the image would not be used for profit.
That doesn't mean that we can not charge 1 dollar more then the cost of the shirt and then donate the money to whomever we choose, just that no one person can keep the earned money.
I've also contacted another printing company concerning prices and all the other details concerning such a project and I'm waiting to hear back from them.
So wow, here we are coming along nicely. Depending on the replies, this may take off sooner then I thought.

one thing to keep in mind before we go diving into this murky pool is that according to the poll people have promised to buy about 38 six-dollar shirts. that falls a bit short of clearing costs I'd guess. remember to look before you leap. I don't think we are ready to jump yet.

I was under the impression that there was a flat charge of 6 dollars for a blank tshirt, and then the cost added on to that would be a % of the 1000 dollars for the printing.

thre is a flat rate for the t-shirts. but there is also the screen fees, and those have to be paid before even the first shirt is printed. Once the screen fees are done and the artwork finalized, then the t-shirts are $6 each up to 1X sizes then you have to add an additional $1 per X for larger sizes. 2X = $7, 3X=$8 and so on.
